I wonder how many people can even get to work on public transport, I certainly couldn't. I start at different times and my 10 minute drive would turn into a 20 minute bus journey into town, followed by a 15 minute bus ride to an industrial estate.

If they lay on a bus service for the days when I start at midnight I'd consider it!

I have started a thread to get numbers together on this on the welsh section. I'm not too computer literate so was wondering if someone might know how to put the thread on all regions at the same time??

Sounds like a good idea - Although if something like this was to be done then I think it would be as well to get *every* owners club of any vehicle that may fall foul to the blatent dressing up of a simple money making scheme in a green frock.

But I think just driving into Central london and jamming it up with as many performance vehicles and 4x4's as possible (the two groups who are affected by this). Although you'd think the ABD and the like would be getting in on the idea of organising something like this.

Although - when the press may get involved you would need someone who can explain properly why this is happening - "because they're taxing my performance car" is not going to get much sympathy from the average person.

Giving the facts and figures regarding our cars impact on the enviroment, draw attention to the fact that Labours "extensive" Green policies extended to putting £100 on Road tax for a small number of vehicles and costing everyone an extra 2p a litre on fuel; yet not providing any policies or financial backing to encourage people to be more green. Providing tax breaks to companies who use rail freight rather than road haulage for instance - which would attract more investment into the rail networks and have a resultant knock-on effect to passenger services.

Just a thought like.

Actually - Ernesto Guevara was nothing but a hyprocrite who preached how the ruling classes were dictating to the peasents how to live, yet wanted to tell those same peasents how to live . Its a pretty obvious line of thinking in Guerrilla Warfare from the start.

Ernest. What type of damn name is that for a revolutionary is that anyhow?? "Don't worry brothers! The oppressors will be defeated! Ernest is on his way". Hardly fills you with confidence does it?

(Hows that for dragging a bit of comedy into academic hell??! )

Have you ever been to Cuba?

We are lacking in social moral fibre nowadays. Too much time spent on the net

..no, never been to Cuba - I'd like to go just to see all the '50's cars driving around. (..to drag the thread further off topic.. )

I have social moral fibre. It just involves lots of uncomfortable home-truths that people don't like to hear. I'd never make it as a politician - I'd get sacked by Cameron in seconds..

Looks like support is growing Dan, it only takes a few people to get behind it to make it grow.

Default Le FROGS

LET'S BE FRENCH FOR A CHANGE!!!

Love them or hate them, you can't help admiring them.

If they don't like what the Goverment are doing, Blockade the Ports, Burn British Meat, or whatever.

They ( the French Goverment that is ) wouldn't dare do to their people, what our lot are doing to us.

I am up for it, BUT WHAT??

Apart from the Petrol Protests ( that sacared the POOO out of them) , what can we do that gets their attention and, most importantly, their participation?

Spookily, some of their Eyes & Ears will be scanning threads like this.

Let's do something that makes them "come round to our way of thinking."

If you want to protest, at least protest about something that attracts public sympathy. My bet is 95% of the population, are delighted about 4x4s being hit hard for tax, rightly or wrongly.

While you're at it, why not complain about how much it cost to de-cat your exhaust, up-rate the turbo/induction and remap, just so that you could go faster, use more fuel, and make more noise

Good luck,

Richard.

How many of you are willing to stage some sort of protest against the recent tax hike on our 'gas guzzlers'? I'm thinking that some sort of go slow around the m25 or a drive through the center of London might suffice. I accept that some might say that that it is pointless but by taking action we might inspire others to do so also and prevent an otherwise unfair tax imposition occurring. Is this a tax too far? I apprecite some might say I'm being foolish but you have to fight for some freedoms surely???
I admire you son you have my vote and admiration, at last someone on this forum has the bottle to speak out.

Unfortunately I don't think such a protest will attract much of a following. Remember, the only cars hit hard are those registered '06 or newer with highest C02 output (Band G). By definition these are cars which have high fuel consumption and are therefore quite costly to buy in the first place. The number of people affected by the big increase is tiny and they are all reasonably well-off.

One car tax band has been reduced and the others have small increases. The 2p extra duty is in line with inflation.

I certainly don't support the increase, but you have to be realistic about how most people would view this. A load of owners of new large 4x4's and newish Impreza WRX/STi holding up the M25 would not attract much sympathy!

I'd like to be supportive of action like that but i fear it would do no good.

We live in an elected dictatorship. This government do as they please and are hellbent on ruining this country.

As i have already had a rant in the other thread about 'whining about car tax' i will say no more in this one.

Even if you are not affected by the tax hike by protesting you are making it plain that you don't stand for it in principle. This government ignores the public and we take it lying down. Look what happend with the road pricing petition. In a year or so tax will go up again and so it goes on. By not protesting the goverment conclude that we will simply continue to accept it. Then the next hike will be harsher. The debate about climate change is one sided and I frankly haven't seen evidence that man is responsible.
Showing us pictures of melted glaciers or increases in storms etc is not evidence that WE are changing the climate. It simply shows that the weather MAY be changing. Firstly some scientists say that the alleged changes are natural fluctuations that have occured before and will continue to occur. We are talking about a ball of rock that is 6,500,000,000 years old, has survived nuclear meltdown from meteor strikes and will do so again. Do you really think we are going to cause that much damage. you could set off all the nuclear bombs ever made all at once and live will still continue in some shape or form.

The green lobby state that we are extincting species. Ok I accept that we are affecting certain species. But nature extincts species anyway whether we help it along or not. I accept that this is not a good argument thought.

The bottom line is this I am a scientist by trade and I have not seen concrete evidence for 'climate change'. All I have seen is a bunch of stats and a couple of photos.

Until another scientist shows me the change they observed, demonstrated the the device that measured the change, and also demonstrated categorically that said change was directly caused by something we are doing all I can do is stay sceptical. And as a scientist scepticism is your best friend.

I could go around telling you all that there is chocolate mice living on Jupiter and you would think I'm crazy until you see some evidence. Well you might as well believe it for the majority are buying into the climate change argument in the same manner without any evidence.

There's been miles of debate on climate change in this forum, including a link to the Global Warming Swindle programme in full.

For the protestors, if you really want to change things, address the source of this CO2 warming nonsense, not a silly blockade down Whitehall or something, where you'll get pelted with eggs.

No, protest about the myth of man-made CO2 emmisions being the cause of all evil. And still get pelted with eggs.

The Environment and supposedly green policies are the new religion. Don't let the facts spoil our democratic government policies. You'll get burnt at the stake, or more likely stoned to death (less CO2 ).

Richard.

PS Edited to add link to Global Warming Swindle prog YouTube - The Great Global Warming Swindle (Complete)

The petrol strike just pissed people off... It caused major hassle for millions and achived diddly ****.
The same will happen here. A million pro hunt retards went to London and winged that torturing animals in the name of sport was essential for the countries existence and the government still passed the motion to ban...

Good luck to you all who are prepared to give up your time and money to make yourselves heard. PLEASE keep it down in London so when you're banging that drum, me and mine wont be inconvenienced by this folley

If I thought it would do any good or serve any purpose at all I would be in with you. It wont, so I'm not...

I'm out...
