People keep mentioning that he'll have it on his concience for the rest of his life. Well according to the "Evening Standard" (London) he has never admitted guilt or shown any remorse. Also it is claimed he said that he regularly can go 36 hours without sleep "no problem" FFS!!! I don't have any sympathy for him and as far as I can see hes going to get what he deserved.
MY OPINION not neccessarily yours.

Also on that note a lot of murderers have deaths on their concience but do they all show remorse and not do it again??? Not all of them
Let us see how this pans out shall we.......

Michelle,
Sorry, I can't see this guy in the same category as a murderer.
If he'd planted a bomb on the train or dropped a block of concrete on it, them yes, but he did something very stupid, irresponsible yes, but not deliberate.... could he he have predicted the outcome of his actions? If he could have, would he have changed his behaviour?
I'm not saying he should be let off or anything, but the punishment should be proportionate to the crime.
These things happen because of a domino effect - changing just one thing would have changed the outcome, like him loosing control, like the crash barrier being able to keep his car on the road, had he not been driving a vehicle with a high centre of gravity.

Mr Landings.
I was going to write a reasoned arguement, but you know what, I have had a bit to drink and can't be arsed. You seem intent on having an accident - try to make sure you don't kill anyone else. If you can't learn the lesson that this thread is illuminating in a not-remotely-subtle way, then perhaps you should read it when refreshed and alert.
Good luck.

NBW you are missing my point
Some people are going on about how the fact that he will have 10 deaths on his concience will be enough punishment.......and enough to discourage him from doing it again....
How do we know that?? I think that is far too assumptive......
Maybe my example was a little too extreme

..........er ok.
I presume now that you're sober again you'll have a different opinion on my supposed death wish ? If not, can you explain to me how or why exactly you perceive my opinion to indicate that I seem to be intent on having an accident ? Is it because I say that I'm knackered every morning whilst driving to work ?
Good luck."

I don't know much about the trial, but it appears to me that the evidence must have been fairly cogent for him to have been convicted by a jury. I know his defence counsel and he's pretty good.
I reckon, in answer to Richard Askew's question of sentence that 8-12 months is likely of which he'll serve half. The reason they adjourned is because he's of good character (no previous) they have to get a pre-sentence report on him. He'll be lucky if he gets off without custody, but it's a possibility.

"Simply put, there are loads of people in Mr. Harts situation, we just havent crashed yet, hopefully we wont."
Sober now. I wouldn't call it a death wish, just courting disaster.

This guy killed 10 people due to an accident which was caused by him falling asleep at the wheel!
The railway could do nothing to prevent it!
Anyone who thinks otherwise can talk to me!
Case closed!
