So Andy, does the VF35 have significantly more midrange torque than the TD04 Hybrid ? Am I correct in saying that the only benefit of a TD04H compared to the VF35 is a spool-up level 300 revs earlier, but that the downside is noticably less power ?

It depends on how much boost you are prepared to run midrange. I have seen over 330 lbft at 1.5bar boost on a TD04 Hybrid with full supporting mods, the VF35 would make similar torque at that boost level on a WRX. The numbers don't tell the full story though, its how quickly the boost hits especially in the lower gears.
The VF35 will however make more power from around 5000rpm upwards.

Depends on the year of the car. 1.5 bar is pushing it on the composite head gaskets on the pre 99 cars, 1.6bar on the 99 onwards cars assuming the turbo an intercooling is up to the task. 1.8bar can be run for short duration stuff such as 1/4 miles if running octane booster or race fuel.

So what is it that you normally map uk cars to then? I know Bob Rawle only maps to something like 1.3-1.4bar on uk cars?

Well the car is a 2002 uk bugeye wrx.

Atm it has PPP

But soon it will have

Ebay headers with up-pipe (japspeed) wrapped
3" open neck downpipe back system
STi Pink Injectors
Uprated Fuel pump
VF35 turbo
and Poss STi Top mount
Also thinking of getting an induction kit located inside the wing.

I was told 1.3bar is the max safe boost, which seemed strange as it runs 1.2 - 1.3bar atm with the PPP upgrade.

Totally depends on the year/turbo/intercooler/injectors/ECU/fuel octane and engine condition.

Edit > Assuming your engine was sound then probably around 1.5bar midrange tapering down to 1.3 at 6000 rpm
My old MY03WRX has been running 1.65 bar midrange and 1.5 top end on a 20G for the past 18months, it gets raced by its new owner every 2nd weekend and has never once complained ! (12.2 sec 1/4M)

Myself and Cossie are probably looking for the same sort of thing but just to clarify :

The pink injectors, STi TMIC, turbo and a remap should see me for 300 brake????

(Mine's a 2001 newage with PPP)

Looks like i'll have to do some overtime and hit some bonuses!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers for everything folks, certainly makes great reading

The STi Pinks and STi Top Mount are not needed for 300bhp from what I can make out.

I want as much reliable power as I can get in 1 hit, as I am not gonna shell out more cash at a later date for another remap

Hense seeing what I can get power wise with and without the topmount and the turbo I went with

U should uprate the fuel pump tho m8

Easily 300bhp with turbo change plus above supporting mods (assuming decat). Perhaps 340bhp with a VF35, although with a later spool up than you currently have. Spool up can be improved by ported & wrapped headers (manifold), plus by the sportscat downpipe. Alternatively the TD04 Hybrid, as per the above thread.
