Hello everyone ... I dont own a scoob I'm a 306 GTi driver but the owner of this scoob is my girlfreinds brothers best mate and also a mate of my brothers. Goes by the name of 'coxy' He doesn't use the forums but we're trying to get in touch with him today so hopefully he'll be on line later.

The theiving little beggars have took his morette lights, carbon bonnet, crystal side repeaters, speedline wheels and afterburner rear lights.

He did have an alarm and it was a thatchem (sp?) cat 1 they've imobilised this but couldnt disarm the imobiliser and so couldn't get away with the car, they've also took a grille (a one off jobbie apparantly) from another scoob which was parked next to it and the rumour is that they've also took a blue classic scoob.

The pair of them parked their cars at around 10am and returned at 2pm to find the car stripped, someone has told them that the car was stripped by 11am but apparantly police were not informed until around 1pm ... sound dodgy to anyone?

Anyway, hopefully Coxy will be on later and will give you the full story and probably take you up on most of your generous offers ... cheers you've restored my faith in the car owning comunity

That something like this can happen in a car park at an event is indescribably disgusting... I cant imaging how the owner felt when he came back to his car....

The fact that Donnington might try & hide behind the disclaimer is worthless. Such "left at owner's risk..." signs ar'nt worth the plastic they're written on. The fact is Donnington has "invited" the public onto their property, notwithstanding taking money off of them for the privelige, means they owe the public a sense of responsibility under the Occupier Liability Acts. If a venue allows acts like this to happen at it's supposedly "organised" events where they have laid on "security", there is clear negligence on their part and they should be sued....

Dodgy Donington Park strikes again.

I've heard of a few cars vanishing from their car parks over the years.

I still can't belive they carried off something so blatant.

They want their hands crushed in a vice.

Hi all,

Just popped over from the Boxster forum (Boxa.net) and wanted to say how sorry I am for the poor owner whos car this is.

Regarding how it could happen without anyone noticing, this car (and the silver one next to it) were at the very bottom of a big row of cars, round about the middle row. From the road where you walked, you couldn't really see the bottom - especially if the theives had a big van parked there (presumably the would to get all the bits in).

I'm not sure about the timings though, we arrived at 10.30am, and we were only 2 double-rows back from where this guy was parked. Either the martials/public were turning a blind eye, or it would have happened later on. Having said that, there might have been a lot of cars turn up in that time.

Myself and a friend went back to the car around 2pm for some food. We didn't see anything, but there was some really loud deep bass playing from somewhere (like those test CDs that you can buy). We questioned the point of why someone would want to listen to it for so long. Later my friend suggested it might have been to drown out the alarm noise? Thats all hear say mind, as I'd guess pros have done it, so they might have disabled the alarm in seconds? Certainly we didn't see anything and would have acted if we did!

I hope the owner gets something back, and it would be great if the cops actually manage to catch a car criminal / thief.

Generally speaking, i thought the facilities at Donnington were nothing short of appalling. I didn't see any security walking around, they didn't take credit cards at the gate (but no signs to warn you), the entrance queue was massive, litter everywhere (I'm being picky now) and the toilets were absolutely fowl (and I'm a guy so I don't really notice these things). Very poor show setup with too many drunken lairy types. I don't think I'll attend a show there again to be honest.

I'll be reading the thread with interest for updates - hope there is some good news soon!

Paul.

As Steve Whitehorn said I am so glad I don't live anywhere near the UK anymore, which is a pity as it is my home country.
That guy must be devestated. Nice to see some of you offering parts to him, so there is still a spark of community spirit left then.
That totally sums it up Steve. A real shame isnt it.

Really feeling for the owner after seeing the pictures- I would be gutted to come back and see my scoob in this state after going to a car event- I will be avoiding Donnington for any events -
Totally agree with other members about the thieving b**tards - living off other peoples expenses

I agree. I think unless the guy gets a very generous offer from Donnington Circuit I think he should post the pictures up of whats left of his car on as many sites as possible withthe slogan of "This is what you can expect if you visit Donnington" etc, etc... If The event organisers can't be bothered I think a good dose of adverse publicity hitting their potential attendance figures is in order...

Very good idea that.

I find it very sickening that to go to a car show at a well known venue you need to drive the wifes fecking fiesta to be able to be able to enjoy the day without worrying if someone is unhinging your bonnet for you!

If only theives were punished in a way that actually detered them from theft in the first place.

Just out of curiosity..did he not have locking wheel nuts on his alloys?

i think every user, and there would be quite a few as a couple of other car forums have been on, should send donny an email stating their disgust at their franky **** poor secuity.

people go to these places to have a fun day out. imagine if that was your car and you had 2 young kids with you and you were 300 miles from home . they are selling you short charging stupid entrance fees and coming up miles short of offering a good service so make it well known that you won't be going back unless its resolved.. im sure 1000 emails having a pop will get some kind of attention. spread the word and maybe something will happen.

Sir.

I am writing to inform you that people have seen a picture/pictures on the internet of a vehicle on your grounds that was rasacked and stripped for parts during an event. your security is shocking to say the least. many many people are willing to boycot donnington park until measures are stepped up to make people feel that their vehicle won't be robbed of its BONNET,INTERCOOLER,ENGINE PARTS,FRONT AND REAR LIGHTS AND WHEELS while your so called security is elsewhere scraching its **** and watching the race. SORT IT OUT.

The guy probably did have locking wheel nuts but what do you do if you've got a flat? You need your adapter and where do you normally keep that?
In the boot along with the jack etc. which is easily accessable from the rear seats.

Also, I was thinking that it is an early Sport model and piece that is missing from the engine is the shiney induction pipe and the filter cone that attaches the MAF?

Anyway, this is all a bit off-topic I suppose, I just wish the bloke the best of luck in getting this car car back together.

So basically you took the coppers advice when he stated that people shouldn't bring cars like this to these events. If you read my post earlier you'd have seen that two spoilers were ripped off my car in broad daylight in a Tescos car park near the entrance and nobody reported it, let alone a field presumably in the middle of nowhere with very few, if any, passing pedestrians.

I'm not saying that the security is adequate for an event like this, it obviously isn't. But the flipside of this is a vast increase in ticket price and there will still be issues with security. I'm not privy to Donnington's accounts but maybe they should tighten things up without boosting entrance prices by much.

what were the day ticket prices please?
what was the event called?
Was it a 2 day or 3 day event?
Where abouts in the grounds was the scoob parked???

Anyone answer these q's as i putting an e-mail together to try and get some kind of comments from them,I might not even get an answer but at least it MAY open thier eyes to the obviouse and that the public are demanding more security.

Also any web site where the scoob pics are on, I want to show them how many sites and people have seen what has happened.

I send all my love to the poor guy who has been robbed of his freedom of expression!

Nobody's words could ever make this guy feel right and this has probably put the poor guy off modifying for life!

What is this world coming to if you can't take a "modified car" to a modified car show? There should be some serious words in those police mans ears.

I hope everyone boycotts Donington until they write a contract to the people promising if there are problems with stolen things then it is their fault, therefore they accept the responsibility from now on, and will be employing confident members of security. Current security should be shot!

Disrespectful, disgraceful and not least shameful.

This must have taken a fair while to take all these things off, unless there were many people doing it at once...
People HAVE seen this, those people should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves!

I found this by doing research for the website i'm building on car shows, what to go see etc. There will definately be some strong warnings now!

Good Luck to the poor sod who lost most of his pride and joy!

Love Jo

A copper voices his opinion about the leaving of a car ( probably the most sought after car for theives) in the middle of a field that has little or no passing pedestrian traffic or site security and you say he should have serious words in his ear, how pathetic.

whilst I am appalled that this has happened to someone, it is a sad reflection of the current state of our society where people are not afraid of the law or the owners of property. Lets say the owner turned up and caught the the thieves red handed. We might be talking about a murder here instead of theft as these days those prepeared to as blatant as the basta*ds were are generally up for defending themselves at all costs. Ironically perhaps the owner was lucky not to catch them. Lets say the police had instead. An arrest, probably a caution, doubtful even a conviction, and if there was, they would end up with a samll fine. I truly feel for this geezer.

When I lived in Uxbridge somone attempted to break in the house but gave up. I didn't call the cops but my housemate who was out at the time called them the next morning. The cop who came around asked if I was in any way worried that a burglar could have entered the property. I said no as I was waitin at the top of the stairs with an iron bar (dumbell bar) and would have twatted the guy if he came up. The copper went nuts and said you cant do that. All I said was can't I????????????? I'll take any consequence for the satisfaction.
