Laskys - Plasma and LCD TVs, DVD and Home Cinema Systems from Sony, Samsung, Panasonic and more are always the cheapest and if they are not, they'll price beat

Had a look at the Panasonic 42" PX70 in Currys this evening and thought thats the one for me, the black surround is much better looking than that of the silver PX60 (personal opinion...).

Not in a position to buy just yet, likely in the next couple of months... and the price is also likely to have dropped a little which is always nice

Been advised on "ukhotdeals" that the above panasonic was purchased in store this week from JL for £899, just checked the JL online price and they are showing it at £1099 ??!!

according to the person who advised me off the JL price it was the actual online price and not a price match one.

will try get into my local JL sometime over the weekend and order one up hopefully at this lower price ??!!

Think it was 1199, but I didnt really take much notice of the price as I'm not likely to pay their rediculous prices! More than likely to get a price match using John Lewis for the free 5 year warrenty, then get a wall bracket for it (recomendations are good, don't want to pay over the odds!)

As for the feed, the TV was displaying the same feed they always show, the typical Currys advertising with the od bit of footage shown for good measure. They were showing white water rafting which showed good fast motion at times, comparing it to LCD the LCD's were suffering with motion blur while the Plasma' were not.

The only TV's that get the really decent, non curry advertising, feeds are LG in our Currys, everything else is crappy... guess LG have some contract with Currys to sell more of these than the competitors... doesn't fool me, but I guess it fools a few people into buying...

Did go into Comet a while ago, they had a Toshiba 42WLT66 with HDDVD player running though it, looked superb, but then it should with a decent setup!

My Panasonic PX70 42" arrived today from John Lewis today, set it up tonight and mighty impressed. £1069 delivered incl pedestal after a price match with richer sounds - might push for the other £70 which was claimed to be the richer sounds delivery charge. There again maybe I can't be bothered, I did get 10% off and a 5 year warranty.
Watched some of Casino Royale on DVD as a taster - incredible picture.

just want the tv itself as want to get it wall mounted.

how strict are they on the price matching ?? if I state that richer sounds could do the screen only at £899 do they actaul check with them before offering to match there price ??!!

Yup that's the model I have.

In store where I purchased was £1099 for the panel and £99 for the pedestal.

I price matched against Richer Sounds who do the panel and pedestal for £999 - John Lewis claimed the Richer Sounds delivery to my house would be £70, it is about 200 miles mind you...Richer Sounds is 12 month warranty, JL is 5 years.

The claimed £899 store price is I believe to do with the JL in Peterborough - see here

TH42PX70 £899 inc 5yr warranty - AV Forums

I think they have a big independent retailer nearby and after so many price match queries they just reduced the store price - if I can be bothered I might try to get a further discount, think I have 28 days.
