No it doesn't, it weighs 1632kg. Get back to school ******** 1000kg = 1 tonne

And one more thing...the unsprung weight of the Audi will be LESS than your Scoob because all the suspension components are aluminium and the Ronal alloys are superlight high quality unlike the cheapo's Subaru fit

Sorry chum but you just lost an argument.

Just got back from a couple of days working away to find this thread has got huge! Not really suprising. Sorry fellas, did try to warn against taking the bait but that seemed to upset some people more than blu's Audi drivel was!

On the plus side, couldn't help laughing when I read through the last couple of pages. So it's not all bad.

bigtime. Take a test drive, honestly take a test drive, you will NOT belieive what preogress has been made and I was once a true Subaru god, I ate drank and slept Subaru but nopw they make nasty cars. Enough said

Unfortunately though, you do not own an RS4,the new S3,and YOUR car does not have magnetic dampers,so it's like comparing a Subaru Justy to an STI.

Have you actually driven any of the above,or are you as guilty as a lot of other people when they slate certain cars by just spouting what you read by motoring journalists?

When will people learn that there are more great cars out there than the one THEY currently drive.............i am sure at some point you were just as ballshy about the Impreza you say you had................just because you have moved on to a "softer" car does not make an Impreza(or anything else)a bad car, other than in YOUR opinion.

It's just a shame that your car tastes have moved on,but your personality cannot .

Excuse me, where in my thread(s) have I said ANYTHING about hating Scoobys? The point I am trying to make but it doesn't seem to be sinking in is that there are better, no, much better cars for the money. Please, for those who find it hard to comprehend I am talking about the NEW Impreza's, I have said and will keep saying I have deep respect for the likes of the RB5 PPP and P1 WR they WERE the bees knees.

I repeat I do not HATE Subaru's, otherwise why would I still come here

Too many insecure people on here.

Okay, let me explain:

I took a test drive in an RS4 AND an S4 before I decided on a demonstrater S Line special edition they had at the front of the showroom with 100 miles on the clock. The RS4 was awesome to drive and quite frankly I believe I would have lost my licence within 4 days of ownership the power was seamless and plentiful and required a great deal of will power to hold back. An Impreza STI on the other hand can be driven quite sedately as long as you keep below 3000rpm because before this point the power is just not there. Anyway I am waffling, the S3 was not available at the time of purchase so I could not contemplate buying one. The S4 was a good car but somehow felt a little nose heavy as if I was driving a diesel, admittedly it had the power and was responsive but not like the RS4. When I test drove the S Line special edition which has the lighter 2.0T FSI engine tweaked to give 220PS it felt right for todays road conditions. I also had a feeling at that time that Golden Brown would put the road fund for G band cars up to a higher level come budget (which of course, predictably he did ). That coupled with 14mpg or 20 at best made my mind up. I thought where in Suffolk can I exploit the RS4's power legally? I spend a lot of time travelling around the country on mainly A roads which these days are choked with traffic

So there you have it reasons to buy an S Line Special Edition.
It more than does what I want from a car on todays heavily congested roads

Buy it! You will not be disappointed I promise you. I came from an MY02 wagon PPP and I don't miss that car AT ALL. I have also driven my son's MY04 STI (not PPP mind) and I cannot get on with the laggy behaviour below 3000 then the sudden ON switch of the turbo which propels you skywards by which time its time to slow for the next bend or slower car in front. Meanwhile John Smith in his TDCi Mondeo is still in your rear view mirror, what have you gained? nothing It always amuses me to see the point and squirt brigade on a busy A road trying to get one step ahead, and I ALWAYS catch them up at the next junction/queue what is the point? You may as well drive a civilised piece of teutonic engineering excellence listening to the symphony BOSE stereo and chill while the goons try to prove they drive a fast car

Listen Buddy, you are from Sheffield, one of the most deprived areas of the country, the local council spend so much on local drug user rehabilitation and useless one off games stadiums that they cannot afford to spend money in the right areas anymore i.e. the basic need of the modern human being: THE-ROAD-NETWORK. The roads in Sheffield are appalling, if I lived there I would buy a Hum Vee to get around not a ruddy Impreza or A4

Go away and bug someone else on another thread

Hello chum, look at the date when I first joined this forum For your benefit (all the long serving members already know) I have owned two classics (MY97, MY99) and an MY02 wagon PPP. My username was inspired from a drive in a 22B when they were available. I feel I have to respond to some of the "newbies" who seemingly do not know my status on this fine forum. m8, i drive my STi because I WANT TO, not because im trying to prove anything.

I overtake slower traffic because I WANT TO. I may not get there any quicker, but I enjoy it. I have overtaken other cars, who at the next town have 'caught me' at the traffic lights - so what! other times, Ive got past and not seen them again - woop-de-do.

I go out early Sunday mornings (live not far from good roads in Wales) and enjoy it. Certainly couldnt care about 'beating' anyone - you seem to keep going on about how it doesnt matter, but as you keep going on about it, it obviously does! (to you). I guess your another of the masses who hate being overtaken?

if you want to just 'commute' between A and B, then fine, get some teutonic wagen, and listen to your music, its a free country.

I drive my rice-rocket to suit me, not to prove a point to you.

however, you keep blaring on about the engineering excellence, how great the wheels are etc, as if your trying to prove something. I hope you dont drive in the same manner; however, a lot of 'teutonic' drivers do try to prove something, whether they are listening to their stereos or not!

I love Bluto's posts! It's like fishing off a boat for mackerel, you just can't help pulling them in 2 and 3 at a time.

P.S I am a Subaru owner, and a proud one at that, but the guy's got a number of very valid points.

You certainly seem to spend a lot of your time driving the top of the range car's,only to end up settling for a much lower priced model....................i mean, you replied to me above saying how you did indeed consider both the RS4 and the S4,but ended up with just the 2.0T,and you now also say that you drove a 22B but bought (the admittedly very good, but much lower priced)standard car's.

IMHO you were never going to buy a 50k RS4 if you settled for a 25k?? 2.0T,they both share an Audi badge, but there the similarities sadly start coming to an end.I agree Audi now seem to be trying much harder with their sporting models, but RS4 aside, they are still trailing equivelent models when it comes to putting a smile on your face.

There are very many great cars available to anyone that can afford them, depending on what that certain indivdual is looking for in that car,HOWEVER a great car DOES NOT make a great DRIVERS car,and much as i may hate to admit it (with being on my second Impreza, the first a 2000 model Classic Turbo(circa 5k),and the current '54 plate STI PPP(circa 16k),for the money(secondhand),there are very few cars that offer similar levels of all round performance for the money..................there will always be better cars, but how much more would you need to spend?

Welcome to the thread Welsh buddy, you have made a few valid points and I cannot disagree. When I was 18 I wanted to pass everything in my Austin 1100 before the suspension collapsed and I couldn't steer the ruddy thing. You of course are perfectly entitled to point and squirt past slower traffic so long as you do not put other road users at risk, just watch out for the sheep, I hear they kick like like a buckaroo when approached from behind

Good Evening Paul (this is becoming like an evening with Dr Hilary Jones )

Yes I have tried the top of the range models only to desend upon the midrange, what is wrong with that exactly? If my current car was only £1k less than an RS4 I would have STILL bought it over the RS4, you see it is all about what is suitable for your needs. How the hell was I expected to get Alf in the back of an RS4 (Alf is my greyhound ) okay there is now an avant version of the RS4 but at my time of purchase this was not available. Other points made about the RS4 still apply of course.

Good luck with your STI PPP fella

By the way, how many replacement dampers have you had to have

Living near to Wales is as bad as living in it in my opinion
