I thought it was quite funny... Anyone who fits into the list on the original post are in need of help and should be mocked

So for those who had a chuckle and moved on, thread served its purpose, those that sat and cried about it

Feel free to pick at my beliefs ... I have none
If you did cut and paste from another forum it makes no difference to the offence caused by it even if you were unable to make it up yourself.

At least you are honest enough to admit your rather selfish attitude to other people's feelings which in itself is nothing to write home about!

The point of it though, is not to pick at someone’s religion its (in a sort of Joking way) to show you if you’re a nut job !

For example the way people write about the Muslim bombers... people don’t hate Muslims, they hate Muslim extremists!

I think if you found "yourself" in the post, you need to take a long hard think about your life ! If in fact you did even read it, which judging by your replies you didn't, I'd suggest jumping down from your high horse and getting a grip !

Your the kind of person that causes at best a pub fight over nothing and at worst a School bombing but you enjoy it

There is no way that either of you can accuse me of being sanctimonious or "holier than thou"

I have never tried to change anyone's persuasion on this forum and neither would I ever wish to. I have only ever said that we should all be free to follow our own consciences and also to respect other people's beliefs and the right to hold them. Neither have I ever said or implied that I personally am any better in the way I conduct my life that anyone else. I would not support those who do harm to others of course. I have said before that I support natural law in that good manners and thought for others is a good principle to follow.

I reserve the right however to defend those who are unfairly attacked as in this case and that would also go for any religious group, including also non Christians, pagans, atheists, or whoever when they follow their own beliefs without doing harm to others.

Why the hell should anyone have to put up with the likes of you trying to take the rise out of us so unpleasantly just in an effort to court cheap popularity!

If you cannot support your arguments-better that you stop scraping the barrel to try to justify your efforts. Your final remarks are a good indication of what I mean Pimmo.

the only argument I need to support is freedom of speech. If you don't like a thread just don't post in it. I don't honestly think anyone on this forum fits into the listed descriptions, but if they do I stand by my first point, they have problems.

So if you feel you need to worship a God, thats your business, if I feel I want to be popular by posting such deeply hurting and insulting material, thats my business.

Although I'm tempting fate now, if it was that bad one of the Mod would have removed it by now !!

If a mod decides to, thats their business , I couldn't give a monkey poo !

heres a thought, Go away

In what way are the points listed unfair and unpleasant? Just because you don't like it when religious people are confronted with the hypocritical truth about their beliefs doesn't make your assertions correct, as ever....

No I won't go away thank you very much. You started it so you will have to put up with the result. I am glad it was not removed by a moderator because that would have just hidden the affair, and the matter deserves to be aired.

Free speech is all very well and is to be encouraged. However there is also a code of behaviour and that does not include deliberately insulting those who have done nothing to cause you or anyone else any pain. Their only apparent fault in your eyes is to believe in something that you don't. How many instances on this forum can you relate of those who follow a Christian religion slamming atheists etc for their beliefs?

The real question, which I asked in the first place is, why did you post it in the first place? What were you hoping to achieve? Do you hate Christians so much that you have to indulge in such ill mannered behaviour? What have Christians done to you which is so terrible? In general their religions teach them to follow a good life and to have respect for others. What is wrong with that?

You have stated that you enjoy poking fun at other peoples' beliefs and also that you don't care if you upset anyone either. Not very praiseworthy in the cold light of day is it! One day when you have matured a bit more you may come to realise the error of such nasty actions.

DCI.

I have to admit that my musical abilities are just about non existent I'm afraid. If I was better at it I might have been tempted to do it all in plain chant!

Two different intellect levels here Les!

Those who sum up their argument with statements like "Go away!" Won't be reasoned with on the level you chose to!

They only know one language and most of that can't be posted here! I deal with that sort of mentality on a regular basis!

Cool

Les,
You, I, many others have had reasonable (if sometimes heated!) discussions on religion here, but I don't know why this one has wound you up so much?

I could understand it if the thread title was "If you are dumb enough to believe any of this crap then I pity you" but it does quite clearly state that it's intended to highlight the seemingly double standards of fundamentalists, not the more liberal views of the majority who consider themselves Christian. Even if it is more than that, it certainly is no worse than many of the threads on here about religion.

I don't think the poster intended it to offend anyone, it was just a bit of fun. Most humour is at someones expense, it's a human failing if you like. Sometimes I think you just have to take things for what they are, and if you don't like it, then leave it alone.

^^ What a bizarre post

Christianity, the "national" religion? Not obvious you're from the sheltered South at all is it?

And as for parents being proud, show yours how you spell throw and ask them what they think.

Sometimes i really wonder what goes through (sp) some people's minds.

I think it speaks volumes that Christianity is being defended so vigorously. Let's face it, apart from the moral code stuff which any decent human being could come up with, it's not exactly the nicest religion in the world, but those bits seem to be ignored with amusing regularity.

What is the most common religion then?? - Paganism

You obviously have some deep inferiority issues if you think in terms of North/South or them/us (you).

The manner and tone of your posts speaks volumes about you.

In fact you remind me of that spoilt little fat kid in Viz. Only grown up - thinking the world owes him.

I think you are a very sad personality, as do most people other than your 'close knit (wit) friends (acquaintances).

Before you start of some singular character assasination, based on your own disturbed fears. Let me granulate the situation for you.

Christianity to me means 'Christian Values' (I can repeat that for the hard of thinking) - The good and noble values, not the bad ones that small minded people seem to jump on (Stonings, plagues, floods, 2000 year old attrocities).

Y'know what I mean? (or maybe the point is that you don't) the ones that talk about helping others and not having a huge ego that thinks you can do what the smeg you like and sod everyone else around you.

And NO, im not a bible basher, I don't do church, or sit around a campfire singing '***-by-yah' (Sp). In fact the only time you will see me near a vicar is weddings, funerals and christenings.

That makes me representative of 90% of the UK populace them.

Surely you don't need to have 'Christian values' to understand how to treat people correctly.
But if you are a Christian (or any other religion) you have to accept that not everything your specific religion has done was nice and moral.

Couldn't agree more. Intrinsic morality or whatever the boffins call it. But there are lots of people for whom it needs to be formalised in a book for them to believe it's "true". Weird.
