Sorry mate, I should have said United Kingdom-men

Wasn't trying to single Englishmen out I was just similarising it with olde English (I am not sure whether Scotsmen partake in such banter )

Hope my comments satisfy the parole board

I wouldn't have apologised. I just blatantly called someone a Paki and remain free to post. That's real discrimination.

Subaru's are ****.

Ruddy hell, just noticed my last post was the 13 hundredth. Best post another may be bad luck, enough to get me another 5 day ban

I really couldn't give a flying ****! The place is fast becoming sanitised. Besides, Paki Phil can always report me if he feels offended.

But in todays PC World (no advertising) the effnics MIGHT be offended. It's up to we "differently brown" effnics to complain on their behalf.

Where exactly is the line between banter and abuse?

I'm surprised Bluto got banned (and feel for you) as he was only giving as good as he got from the posts I followed

I'd guess the comments between JTaylor and Einstein RA are playful? so if I took offence to it would it be right for me to put an infraction? - not that I'm going to boys - you crack on at each other as much as you like

I'm now worried about what I put incase I cause offence to anyone

I left another forum due to similar issues (felt I was walking on egg shells despite never having caused any problems) and after only a few short weeks here feel the same

Don't worry about it. I'm pretty outspoken and a bit trollish at times, but I've only been infracted once and that was reversed as unjustified by admin. I think bluto got banned because he did several threads on the trot which laboured his original point and got everyone's backs up.

Just enjoy SN.

Yes it is often indeed a fine line with little distinction. Don't allow yourself to be censored, freedom of speech must prevail. We may all disagree at times but are entitled to have our say.

Which, all joking aside, is on the money.

There's a catch 22 at work though. Whilst Snet have to protect their commercial interests by keeping the forums free of material which advertisers may not wish to be associated with, they risk reducing traffic by stopping the banter. Tricky one.

All said and done what makes this place is the users. That's what got me hooked originally. Yes I had an Impreza blah blah but it was the banter and repartee that kept me coming back. Every other forum I have frequented doesn't have the atmosphere of Snet, if this is destroyed then Snet will not be the same.

Which is why they ought not to have a paid-up militia controlling the place, but intelligent, well-trained moderators who can tell the difference between banter and anti-community behaviour.

It's the "speed cameras vs traffic police" argument, really.

Nope. Far from what Diablo would have everyone believe, I don't hanker after that dubious honour. How could I be a Royal PITA under those circumstances?

They had them once didn't they? At the moment only PTMW seems to be exercising some common sense.

Yet there are numerous posters (intelligent or otherwise) who'd strongly disagree with you. FWIW I wouldn't want the guy's job even if it was paid, let alone voluntary.
