Well, you certainly appear to require it!
1. Lets start by listing cars that cost the same to, a. tax. b. insure. c. run. d. service as a Subaru, that will no doubt cut the list substantially! Also, once the benefit that AWD gives to a quick launch has been negated, there are ample cars that will keep up with and pull away from AWD cars due to the extra weight, transmission drag of the system. For the sake of argument lets call it "in gear" times? Times which are a real factor in the real world!! Why not do a little (HONEST!!) test yourself? My lowly Astra will pull on a stopwatch, a 3rd gear 30-50mph in 2.56 secs, and 40-60mph in 3.24 secs, with very similar 4th gear times over the same increments. These figures tell how easy the car can be driven quickly on public roads day in and day out. Times which are extremely useful in the cut and thrust of everyday motoring on our crowded roads. Insurance with mod declared is a mere £246.00. Excise duty £135.00, and the car will still return 48mpg! Next time you have a minute try your Subaru and let me know the times. Can you really justify for the odd occasion you can "beat" someone from the lights lugging around all that extra weight, consuming all that extra fuel, paying all that extra money for insurance? Think about it.
2. Never start a sentence with brackets!!!! And if you must then at the very least start with a capital letter in the brackets as you have started a new sentence!
3. When using the letter "i" to indicate oneself, it is is always a capital letter.

(aRE you sure yu are not neil the ******, as you sure sound like him), anyhoo if i wanted a diesel astra, i would have had to have been at least 65 and lost the will to live, and if i needed to achieve 48mpg in a car, then i would have to think twice about the economical implications (those 2 words i found in the dictionary, so i still want the nightclasses) of owning a car anyway. (Neil, it's your turn for the lottery.) and your list of faster cars is ****. theres only one in it, and it's an astra diesel (sniggers)

On the subject of who's car is fastest, the other day i had an Evo stuck dangerously close to my rear bumper for a few miles, so i mashed the pedal and showed him what for... by slowing down to a brisk 35mph cruise
360bhp means nothing when there's cars coming the other way..

Do you know what? I got an Impreza because its the car i wanted, not so i could beat other cars in races. I get my driving enjoyment from just driving it quickly when i want to. I could not give a rats *** how fast other peoples cars are, thats there car not mine!
Misty, you really are a ****. As others have said why bother coming on here to cane people? Let me guess the Astra forums are so dull & boring (can't imagine why?) that you find yourself coming back to old haunts. Or maybe there is not a forum for "family cars" like yours? Who knows, who cares.

Just my twopence worth, Its gone on a mad one this thread. I belive the evo driver and especially the passenger was a ****** for doing that and deserved to be put in there place. I dont think that Subaru's are the quickest car in the world but i didnt think anybody said that, and off it goes into mad ramblings. I'll be quite honest with you matey, money does play a part in my choice of car. But what plays a much bigger part is the fact I can drive where I want to drive, park where I want to park, day or night without the fear some ****** breaking into the car, or worse the house for the keys. You only have to read the 100's of threads regarding those issues on here to know it makes sense!
Vauxhall Astras are probably the most stolen cars in the UK. Admittedly this is heavily weighted by the earlier models, which have no security, but even the more secure later models have a similar theft rate per 1000 cars to the impreza.
According to the index, one of the safest cars you can buy from a theft point of view is a post 2001 subaru legacy.
