Elwyn Whittock? What kind of mother christens her child with that name
Don't get me started about the global warming crap I agree with all the posts on this thread putting this green has been in his place. I am sick and tired of being dictated to in this country: don't smoke, don't drink, don't use your car, now listen to me busy bodies, you can all get stuffed because bluto will do exactly what he pleases. I now feel like having an enormous bonfire on the village green. Has anyone got any old pallets they don't want![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Incidently are you any relation to Tecwen Whittock the cheating taff who coughed his way to getting £1m on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"?

Hello everyone,
Firstly let me introduce myself. My name is Elwyn Whittock and I am the founder and President of the North Wales Environmental Trust. It is my aim to visit as many motoring based internet forums as possible in the next couple of weeks just to try to focus everyone’s attention on CO2 emissions and the harm cars are having on the environment and Mother Earth! I am not asking you all to go and sell your cars tomorrow; I understand that to be sharing your interests amongst others on the internet suggests to me that your car plays a major role in your life. All I ask is that you consider and possibly take action on at least one the following in the coming months:
1/ Downsize to a smaller car with lower emissions. This will also save you money both in terms of fuel consumption and vehicle excise duty. Some small cars are even free of any duty since the last budget! There’s an incentive for you all.
2/ Consider a dual fuel vehicle or hybrid. Many are on sale already and the list keeps growing. I have driven one and they are fantastic to drive!
3/ If you use your car for domestic and pleasure purposes only limit your use of the vehicle to just 10 miles per week. For every mile above this distance you increase your CO2 emissions by 53%.
4/ Consider converting your car to run on biofuel, propane or hydrogen.
5/ Buy a car with a diesel engine. Whilst these produce similar amounts of CO2 to a petrol engine they are more fuel efficient so therefore are cleaner.
6/ Consider another hobby other than motoring which will take up your time and provide similar thrills for the adrenaline junkies amongst you such as bungee jumping or white water rafting. Or why not take the kids to the local fun fair and share a ride!
7/ Take the train to work or cycle there, it’s good for your health and your wealth.
Remember that we only have one planet Earth, please do not contribute to its destruction by being reckless. Reducing your speed to 45 mph for instance will reduce CO2 emissions by 72% in the UK alone!
Thanks for your time
Kind Regards,
Elwyn Whittock

This thread really touched me by The Environmentalist and so I did my bit for global warming. I got bored of sitting in my car on the drive revving the nuts off it, what a waste of a gallon of petrol but hey ho anything to help the global warming cause ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I propose at the NBO we should collectively do our bit for Global warming and start all our cars up for 5 minutes in the field to help the global warming

lmfao @ murdered insects...
It was going down as a reasonable attempt at a wind up until then...
If it was a serious attempt by some idiot I'd happily rip the logic and attack against us apart - but I won't bother as its a wind up

Well I've done my bit and got a Mini JCW to sit along side the X5 and will avoid using the Chelsea tractor when I can. The small Mini only puts out 211 CO2's so not to bad

Regardless of whoever posted this and whether it is a wind up or not, it is interesting to see how many deliberately irresponsible posts it caused.
As a matter of interest, aren't diesel exhaust fumes reckoned to be carcinogenic?
I think it is not so much the effects on Global Warming that are dangerous but the effects of the fumes themselves on people. I only have to be in London for about 60 minutes before I get a headache from them. Must be pretty bad for your health in all honesty.

Most people will agree Global Warming is something we should all care about for our own future and the future of the planet but the government has applied its spin on the whole issue and turned it into a cash cow. Talking about Cows, the CO2 emitted from UK cows is greater than all UK cars, how long before there is a tax on beef and leather ? The EU have suggested a flight tax, the UK charge four times this amount and for what reason ? Modern Aeroplanes that produce far less emissions than older craft do not receive any tax breaks, why ?
We have spent 9bn on the olympic games when this could have gone to so many worthy causes.
New hospitals
New Schools
Wind Farms
More grants for green projects
A gun that actually fires for our illegal war
Glasses for American soldiers
This country has turned into a PC, cash spinning machine that has gone to hell.
Most hard working petrol heads have one enjoyment, that being the car and no matter what the government do I will not give up my hobby for a few thousand miles a year.
and relax.............

I have a shiney Ninja downpipe sitting in my livingroom. I'd love to attend a tree huggers protest with the Ninja in hand !! I could argue that it has a sportscat !!

Hello,
I am finding some of the responses quite sad and worrying by the very least. I expected many people to take on board what we (the trust) are saying at trying to save this Earth for your children and your childrens children. I am also a lay preacher at my local methodist church and everyone is on board. Now come on chaps, lets show some community. I am not alone in my beliefs, in 10 years time it will be compulsory to use public transport.
Regards,
Elwyn

Hello Friend,
I am sorry, you have lost me here, Emma is my youngest daughter and is priceless to me, not sure what you mean and I can't give you an answer. Maybe she can give you one?? I will ask if she knows what you mean.
Kind Regards,
Elwyn

Dont be sorry. I would be grateful if Emma would answer.
Does she have a mobile number or a personal email address that i could contact her on to discuss these issues ?
Thanks
Sti

Your "Events" page does not appear to be working properly but it does mention a treasure hunt involving a 100 mile round trip and an entry fee of £10 per car, perhaps you would care to explain the apparent contradiction between this event and your earlier recommendation to limit private car use to 10 miles per week

I believe your intentions may be slightly misconstrued. For your information Emma has a boyfriend: Bevan, our AGM Chairman.
