Hello Mate

Think we are both in same boat, newbies on this site.

With regards to Insurance, as i understand it WRX on the original model scoob's are all imports.

If you disclose to the insurance comany that it is a WRX then they should be aware that it is an import. Insurers are aware of the spec of each vehicle, otherwise they wouldnt be able to rate the risk correctly.

Happy hunting for your new motor.

p.s cant believe you future father in law is allowing you the use of his drive to park a scoob, dosnt he realise that the car will be new love of your life...neglecting his daughter. (just my little joke)

Insurance companys are a pain in the a**e, i got done over by 1 once and lost 5 years ncd without even realising !!

the best thing i have found to do is get your dad to insure it, that way you can still keep the cheap run around and get your own build up of ncd and et cheaper insurance ! everyones a winner !

I have a import wrx, alot more chocie but yes more expensive on insurance, group 20 i think instead of group 17 uk spec.

If you dont mind doing it this way you get more choice and imports have more on them as standard. The UK ones are quite basic and i havent seen as many of them around so prices may be abouve what you want to pay ?

The got done over bit as follows:
went to a well known insurance company with 8 years ncd had an accident, the only time i didnt protect aswell ! anyway this insurance company do not take anyone with more than 5 years ncd so my 8 automactally went down to 5 because i acepted there qutoe, whats the point in building up more than 5 i said, didnt get anywhere so with that and the small accident i went from 8 to 3 years ncd !!!!! its in the small print apparantly

all good and well having your dad insure it, but if your the main driver of the car, the insurers wouldnt pay out in the case of an accident. if the cars in your name and the insurance is in anothers, but your the main driver...
see where im coming from.

lots of insurance brokers regurlaly visit this site too, so id be careful what you say regards having someone else insure the car.

personally in that situation then, id have the car registered in siad fathers name, ie hes the owner keeper etc, young un' as a named driver so they can drive it around, and then keep the runaround for the ncb for a couple years. thats if they want a scoob so bad so young.

me personally i dont have that privilage. havent a father to put on the policy, and mother doesnt drive. so i fork out on a uk car which does me perfectly, which i could easily tune to the output of a wrx/sti.

each to their own fella

I do see what you mean and haveing my dad as the owner of the car is no problem to me, like you said each to there own. and as for tuning your car to the output of a wrx/sti. of course that could easily be done but the same money spent tuning a wrx/sti could be even more bhp ?

Ive had a UK 2000 and it was a fantastic car, but where i am at the mo spending 3k on an import as to 4.5k on a uk model suites me better.

Nice car tho mate.

yeah, i see where you are coming from too

i wanted to do it all on my own though,

but i got a quote on a 2000 turbo last night for my mum, third party fire and theft, £240 and that was without even putting ncb in, when i put 5 years on it went to £130

and, my fiesta insurance, i can drive any car on that, think i paid a bit more then i could of, but that ment i could drive my mates mums van, so we could transport our motocross bikes around, so she wouldnt even have to add me to it

only thing im worried about now, is if i was to crash into some one and they claim on me, would that go against my insurance ?

or go against the policy in my mums name ?, as i dont wouldnt want to screw things up for her, as she drives for a living(driving instructor)

you wouldnt get a quote from ecar on a wrx for two reasons fella.

1. they dont do imports - sorry

2. they dont insure cars over group 17 - wrx being 20, uk turbo being 17.

why do you think i got such a good quote for my stats?
