How are the Playstation 3 owners getting on ?

Oi don't get me involved with your arguments besides the M3's not mine, its the wifes

I was actually refering to the posters topic of whether its the best £425 i've spent and when comparing it to the phone it does alot more. I'm just fed up with people whinging about what the PS3 does and don't do. I happen to think that £425 is'nt expensive and that the PS3 is not the rip-off that everyone says.

Mostly playing Fight Night Round 3 and Motorstorm.
Virtua Fighter is not to my taste so looking forward to Tekken 6.
Use the PS3 more than the Xbox360 at the moment though my son is still hooked on PES6.
And I think the PS3 is very good value for money as the movies I buy will be BluRay.

Right now the PS3 is a good value HD player and potentially impressive games consoles but the current line up of games is very poor. What narks me the most is Sony's attitude that they can blatantly rip Europeans off while the rest of the world pays for PS3s at reasonable prices. That’s why I will not entertain the PS3. A rebels cause is a cause for the rebels
I know what you're saying but we live in rip off britain, so why deprive yourself!

For HD playback I'm getting an EVA8000 to stream HD content so the PS3 has no appeal in that department.

Unfortunately the games line up doesn't shout out and say - buy me buy me. I saw several games at CeBIT including motor sport and they just didn't do anything for me. TBH if I was considering a console right now and both the PS3 and 360 were at the same price. I would choose the 360 purely because the games available and LIVE.

Why choose, have the best of both worlds I agree that the 360 live is alot better than the PS3

Is the wow factor still present in gaming nowadays. I still haven't had the initial experience of the PS1 replicated yet by a long shot. The first glimpses of Tekken and Destruction Derby left me speechless. Those moments were seminal and I mean seminal, watching Law do the running up the body move or King do his victory move was jaw dropping.
Then just as I was recovering from those experiences along came Soul Blade and Tomb Raider, life would never be the same again. I doubt any game has ever been as enjoyable and addictive as the original Tomb Raider. Jeez I could wax lyrical all day. The list of top notch games was never ending Crash Bandicoot, Abe's Odyssey, Resident Evil etc etc. I paid £145 for my Playstation in 1997 second hand. Given the amount of enjoyment it gave me I would say that I would have been happy to pay that figure ten times over.
To date nothing has replicated that original mind blowing experience, maybe the PS3 will who knows? If it can then £425 is a paltry sum to pay. Hecky thump gaming has come a long way since I started out on the t'old Spectrum and likes of Horace and Through The Wall.

Xbox 360 - 760p output, look OK - just a bit better than on CRT screen at 500 odd resolution, but PS3 is 1080p, great if you have a 1080p screen! My mate has one, and it is super duper on Casino Royal and HD output from games!!!

Except most games are still in 720p native on both systems, and you seem to forget that the 360 has 1080p games aswell. Plus the fact that the 360 will scale to any output whereas the ps3 can't.
The xbox has a much more flexible unified architecture so although it is slightly slower on paper it is much more efficient which means that both systems are very similar in performance terms, they just do it in different ways.
The only fact that matters at the moment is that both systems are putting out graphics of the same quality. It is purely down to game choice now.
As was stated above, until something better has been released for either console you cannot believe the hype. Both companies have stated that they aren't using anywhere near the full potential but you can't tell who is talking bollocks until they prove it.

Maybe true for games but not SD DVD playback. I can't use my 360 to watch a SD DVD as my telly doesn't support 576p, it does support 720p and 1080i but I can't get the 360 to use these for SD DVD playback. HD DVD works fine though

So what about 1080p resolution?!
You don't get any real benefit unless you sit 2" from the screen or have a screen that is HUUUUUUUUGE!
