its 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other, some say its fine with no BOV and some say it will kill ur turbo.
i do like the sound, but the tweak of my HKS SSQV has more turn round appeal !

my home made Vf23 has been chattering for 3 years LOL
uprated recirc dump valve set to max pressure, low to mid boost it chatters, high boost it recircs, i think it has to be higher then 21 or 23psi to recirc??
i built this turbo around 3 years back, from 3 knackerd turbos
never had it balanced, and always ran it at 1.45 bar boost PMSL

ive got a vid of mine that i took last night after eliminating that the dv was not the cause of my leak (i.e. by not running one)
This is a GT35R at about 1.7bar,

Sorry about the quality but it was only done by a phone!

It was Tek3 mapped with this in place
Was advised that TD series turbos will be ok but it may reduce the life of the turbo in relative terms but it is a low milage replacement td04 anyway.
Its done a lot less than the 80k miles on my scoob
If it does go,well I guess its an excuse to upgrade which is the next phase I would be looking at anyway

So what do you do with the little hose? Get the picture to plug up the IC and the recirc pipe but what about the little one? DO you hear this noise we're all after then
I was thinking maybe get a forge DV with the different spring kit. Set it so it only dumps at max PSI (about 16 on mine)

I ran my sti2 with td05 16g without the dump valve for a day and although it sounded cool the car didnt feel that great coming back onto the power. Slightly hesitant.
With my standard recirc valve and induction kit, i still get a nice but not too chavy wooooosh from my car under load.
Although my dump valve is very close to the air filter as its an early classic unlike the intercooler mounted valves so it will sound alot louder!

All easy to reconnect if need be.
The small blue samco hose still connects to my boost gauge
Yes get the flutter noise.
Does not feel hesitant at all and certainly a lot better than with a vta dump valve.
When the resonator box in the wing was reomoved it was more audable.
I only came about doing it in a round about way
The car had an intermittant leak whilst it was being mapped so the dump valve was blanked off as process of elimination as thought the spring may have been too weak.
Turned out to be something else and went back to Forge vta for a while aftwer it was mapped but it got on my **** so blanked it off again
I was reliaibly informed the TD series turbo's will be fine but it may shorten its life relatively speaking.
I have heard people say it may bugger maf or the turbo but have not read about this actually happening
I am sure there are owners who have run without for quite a few months with no problems also
cheers

Going to get a 2nd hand forge DV and buy a spring kit. I'll set it up so it opens on max PSI so at least it will dump at high load and should give the flutter on lower boost. (my old GTIR did this)
Will help anyway as the Forge DV for newage is thinner than the STI8 OE valve and won't foul the coilpack on my classic.
