so I do a brass rubbing of my lettering, take it to said sticker shop, they say no problem sir, it sounds a great project, we will do it for free !!
in fact we had some leon cupra driver in the other day asking for the same thing sir, but he was a bit of a muppet, so we sent him away !!
thanks

Unfortunately everyone else seems to manage without decals/stickers for their raised lettering, hence there doesn't appear to be a market for them, hence noone seems to make them, hence noone can help you.
If more people were as cack-handed as you at painting a few raised letters then maybe they would be available.
Get a piece of paper, place it over the lettering, use a pencil and make a template of them in a brass rubbing styleee.. Then find someone who will, using posh white stuff that wont melt, cut the letters for you. Then go on dragons den and see if anyone will invest in your subaru 4pot raised letter business

funky spider...I see where I may have gone wrong, my cack handed painting may have caused some problems for me, that dont have a solution
however that dosent stop me throwing all my toys out my pram and amidst all the toy throwing, I may have hit upon a lucrative market..
*coming soon to an ebay shop near you *
Decals for subaru (may not limit it to that marquee) calipers for anybody who is cack handed at painting lettering
Its a sure fire winner

Dont knock it sonny jim, I forsee a whole new marketplace opening up for me soon...
If you know me and how much of a numpty mechanic I am, you will know that "Bodge it & Bodge it " is hitting a nerve with the community.
The possibilities are endless:
* lucrative sponsership from dyslexic signwriters
* a whole website dedicated to sunday "have a go " mechanics
* hand tips from other useless owners..dosent help you but you get a nice warm feeling that someone else is having as many problems as yourself

phil, I like you as a poster and I am sure you are decent upstanding member of the community, but if you or anybody else gives me one more piece of sodding advice on how to paint the lettering, I am going to shove this can of white radiator paint sideways up somewhere it shouldnt go
I want decals/stickers ............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
right I feel better now I have done a few exclamation marks...and breathe

Tony, you did ask for advice.. in the 1st post. What you forget is when you jet wash your alloys, the stickers will come off. painting them properly won't.

what amazes me,is that out of all the scooby owners out there, I cant be the first who has come across this problem

Probably half the owners leave them as they are, the other half paint them I guess
When I did mine when I first got the scoob, I got a really good heat paint in black, but it was really thin the paint, but went on so well, when it had dried the next day, the calipers actually looked like they were brand new out of the box
When I later did them in red, the paint was different, and much thicker and tbh didn't look brilliant, especially after a few weeks
the Subaru lettering i did first time round was much much better than my second attempt (I guess your not on your own with that one then )
Now if stickers were around for callipers then, I would have got some, and when I got the stickers for the car done, I never thought to ask him to make some up for me for the callipers
Oh, and dont listen to Salsa, they dont jet wash off, certainly not the stickers I had

What you want to do is paint them properly, using any of the previously mentioned methods then take a photo of your good work. Now take said photo down your local sticker shop and get them to make up some nice non melty stickers for you from your photo.

Given the apparent lack of artistic talent (or patience) available chez Suisse, whats to say the sticker option is going to work?
How are the sticker company going to make a sticker to fit raised lettering ('cos of all the gaps between the letters)?
Will it be one letter at a time - how hard will these be to get straight?
Certainly harder than painting!
I think that the stickers are available for the rear calipers purely because the lettering is not raised - therefore a 'flat' sticker would be effective!
All IMHO and bearing no relation to anything of importance of course

I think I may have been slightly drunk last night and just a tad shouty
All very good suggestions thanks.
Yes, my artisitic ability, whilst normally perfect, let me down this time and I was looking for a quick fix. Stickers wouldnt be that hard to do, because as long as you got the lettering correct, it would just adhere to the raised sections and then cut into to the dips. But I think this excercise has proved that painting is the only way
(if on the other hand I do get some stickers that work, I shall of course be keeping them for myself and not telling any of you lot where to get them )

I think calipers are over-rated anyhow Just dont drive so fast and you`ll find you can lose most of the speed with a good old size 9 boot out the drivers door scraping your foot across the ground If you want to add an extra little mod to your new braking system then you can add a blakey for sparks Looks well cool at night too
