They say that if you have a cat problem in your garden you should go to your local wildlife park or zoo and get some big cat poo to put on your garden so it scares off the domestic ones
The same principle might work for your birds, go and get some big eagle crap and slap it all over your fence and maybe they little buggers wont do it any more
failing that at least you wont see the little crap for the big crap

There are two ways, both as good as each other.
1. If you have a garage why not move it in there. That way you can enjoy your fence without birds cr@ping on it.
2. Same as 1. but it involves a tent not a garage.
In both you don't have to worry about the weather either !! a win win situation I feel.

It's not Seagulls im having problems with, i live miles from the sea, it's mainly Blackbirds that are the main culprits

One of my neighbours has just put a new fence up on both sides, and painted it all a nice shade of deep orange
The tops of all the fences are completly covered in bird cr@p
My fence (about the same length, 20 panels both sides) doesnt have a single piece of bird poo on them at all, and they didn't when I painted them a few years back
however I had 2 cats then, and now the cats are gone, I have a dog that likes to eat birds too![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I can now quite safely and securely paint my fence again![Thumb](images/smilies/thumb.gif)
cue a thread from me in a few weeks on how to stop birds cr@pping on my newly painted fence

Kev serious response to your 'serious' question..
put some jingly jangly things like some windchimes etc near the fence...
non serious response...
whack on your scarf, stand out in the garden with your arms outstretched.. I hear the scarecrow look w**ks wonders
