There isn't a classic UK WRX //oo\\

Standard UK WRX's are about 11 seconds 60-100mph which is 1s slower than a Focus ST, 1s slower than a CTR, 182 and cars in that range. It still confuses me as to why Subaru released the bugeye when it was markedly slower than a Turbo 2000? The still haven't set that straight as owners must pay for PPP to get classic performance or get an STI to improve on it. The problem is that it now means the performance of the 'turbo' Impreza's is pretty varied such that whilst a P1 or Spec C will **** all over a hot-hatch the little chav turdboxes can crawl past a bogo WRX.

(PS - import or not, newage, or not, the Supra will **** all over a WRX when modified like for like in ultimate speed)
At least everyone agrees on something

Where do you get all these 60-100mph times by the way ? A useful figure, but not one mags commonly quote.

Deduct 0 to 60 from 0 to 100 and you get a flat out through the gears 60 to 100.

Seems a good comparision for real world driving and avoids the rather false 0-60 figures provided by four wheel drive traction off the line.

30-70 is a good one too, many mags quote that, for say leaving a 30 mph zone and accelerating.

Realistically, for anything with decent performance, for the overtake, or slip road exit, 60 to 100 is more realistic though as to the speeds actually attained.

Yea feel like I'd be driving a tug boat with no response too, would rather the Scooby thrill and the faces of people in other cars when they see a K reg saloon car wipe the floor with em

who really cares about various states of tune, if you have the money, you can pretty much do anything you want to either engine can you not?

fact it, your comapairing a boat to a plane FFS, the 2 are not in the same leauge. Supara will destroy a scoob in the motorway if its better spec'd than the scoob, and vice versa, its not hard to work that one out. Your arguing about what you could do to your cars, christ, one of you could go buy a GSXR 1000 strap a turbo on and kill the supra pretty much in amy state of tune.

If your going to go standard against standard then its a different story, staright motorway cruising then the supra will have the WRX for certain, on the twisty B roads (where the WRX is at home) it would be a different story.

All it would take to keep up with a GOOD supra driver, is an average WRX driver, stick a good driver in the WRX and the supra may as well go home

You need to get down to very twisty roads for it to start to significantly pull away - the sort of roads where to go over 30mph requires a closed road or complete lack of sense.

What *does* make a difference is the quality of road surface - if the road is particularly poor, then any AWD car is going to be less prone to twitchiness than a RWD one. The Supra has very high levels of grip, and pretty neutral handling, and is able to carry a lot of speed through a corner. What it's very vulnerable to though is poorly chosen 'modifications' to the suspension/handling setup - a simple change of wheel can completely wreck the handling and make them a liability, moreso than the same change made to a WRX.

as said, whats being compared is a boat and a plane, far to many variables, pick one and enjoy it fot the reasons it was bought
