Not trying to prove anything. It was and still is a test to see what these engines can handle in standard trim and how long they will last. There have always been guestimates as to what the limit is for any given year of impreza. This was an update for people interested in whether the car was still running and what it has been used for.

You see a lot of posts from people asking "will it be reliable" when they are thinking of tuning. At least if they see this it will give them a good idea that say a 400bhp conversion should be bullit proof on a similar year car.[/QUOTE]
good points there

Surely longevity is dependant on engine to engine, amazing what you have done so far but I'm sure another engine would have give up long before.

Very true that I may just have a "good engine" but then I'm not suggesting that everyone should go out and try to run over 500bhp on their engine. If a good engine can ran at over 500bhp then no one should theoretically have trouble running 400bhp. Infact I would hazard a guess and say 450bhp should be pretty reliable.

You obviously do have a good engine. Everyone seems to be very 'soft' when it comes to tuning and ask mummy if an extra .01 bar of boost is OK.

Nice work!

maybe everybody dosent want to blow their engines up by adding an extra 0.1 bar of boost though

Its switchable on the jdm sti's, uk's require an ecu wiring mod, no unfortunatly its not available for general use by ecutek dealers

We are currently running the smallest .63 gt30r turbo exhaust housing, we have a .82 on the shelf we could try running or even a gt35r... but both these would have a negative effect on the drivability of the car and imho not really worth anything other than to try and get bigger power figures which misses the point of having a high powered road/track car! We are currently making 1bar of boost by 3500rpm(on the road) So personally I think on this setup the .63 gt30r is the acceptable limit!

The only other option we have looked seriously at doing is another vp109 racefuel map, as when the last one was done we ran slightly lower boost and had a leak on the uppipe(since corrected) and see what it runs then
