One of the figures is out.

The galactic confederacy is supposed to have been formed 95 billion years ago.

This of course is slightly tricky as estimates put the universe at 13.7 billion years old.

The holocaust thing is interesting. Wasn't there something between Tom Cruise and Steven Speilberg within the last couple of years, when they had previously worked together on a few films, perhaps this is the real reason for a rift growing between them and TC?

Or the reason the wee TC is no longer on anyones A List at the LaLa land studios or why Nicole did a runner. What a bunch of Cults

Praise the Lord! - at least you are thinking about it!

Talking of the 'End Times' there is a fantastic series of fictional books based on 'Revalation' (the last book in the Bible for those who are not aware of it ) called 'Left Behind' - also a couple of movies.

Driverless cars careen out of control. Terrified people watch their loved ones vanish. Some say it's an alien invasion, but Rayford Steele knows that his wife's warning has come true—Christ has raptured believers and he's been left behind!

No. 95,000,000 is 95 million years ago. So it's during the Jurassic period on Earth..

Looks like a good series. May have to get these.

Edit: not that I believe any of this, it's just a good story line

I read the dianetics book back in 2003 before all this scientology crap came to light, and thought there were some intersting ideas there, def no bollox about intergaltic aliens. Did get a bit weird though when it got to the bit about babies being influenced by what the parents say whilst still in the womb. Surely they have no comprehension of launguage

I feel obliged to point out to everyone that without scientology mankind has no future on this planet. It bears thinking about.

But no-one blinks an eye should you mention playing classical music to an unborn child.

Anyhow, I've had a few takers for my cult - names withheld - any more? Membership is limited to how many people can fit in a tube train.

Chris

It is in Forest Row and it is one of the best primary schools in the area. My daughter is four, and she will join her sister in the Catholic school in one years time.

I am not a Scientologist, or actually have much stock in Catholicism (see: https://www.scoobynet.com/non-scooby...-marriage.html)

Correct, but the actual link was wrong. Hubbard claimed that the confedracy was formed 95,000,000,000 years ago, not 95,000,000

That's because there's actual real evidence that it can calm them down, not just the ramblings of fruitloops. I don't believe it affects brain development though. Mind you, we tried it with Mozart, which is supposed to be the best, but gave it up as I hate that sort sort of rubbish (it's all noise - not real music )

So, you agree that a load of noise can calm a baby but don't agree that a load of noise can upset a baby, that's a bit hatstand if you ask me. If you want to find out if a baby is upset by it's environment try shouting loudly and repeatedly at the next pregnant woman you see, I'm sure she'll mention the sprog. If enough of us do this surely it'll count as actual evidence.

I'm starting to sound like one of them, but hey it's all good debate.

Still places available in my cult, we like to keep some of our babies upset, variety being the spice of life.

The Matrix is more convincing than this load of cr*p clearly dreamed up by a sci fi writer. Who in there right mind would believe this guy.

Mind you it could be argued that this is how they all started including some of the big boys, No names mentioned

I always felt that it was just a con by (IIRC) Ron L. Hubbard to flog more of his books. I've read a few actually and they are quite good.

Don't they believe we were put here by some aliens or a more advanced version of ourselves? Considering the way things are going, maybe they'd like to come back and fix the heating?

Group buy anyone

Some sort of Uber Scientology machine. An E meter blue. You get a red one if you see an alien btw. Easier to store than a watch tower by all accounts.

You're the first to mention it and I agree, most religions are based around seemingly wacky ideas, get enough people to believe, have them give you some dosh and away you go. Belief keeps a lot of people happy and that's hard to argue against as the BBC reporter found out.

I don;t think the actual essence of the "religion" is any more outlandish than any other. What was the focus of the programme, was the tactics used by the CoS to prevent people from "outing" information about them. Their use of the "fair game" policy to discredit critics, the encouragement of "disconnection" from freinds and families and the outright confrontationalism of the churches representatives.

i must admit, i didnt see the program although i meant to watch it, and im certainly no expert on any religion...

i suppose the main difference is that when religion was first conceived, the general population was too uneducated to know any different and weve evolved to believe (unbelieveable) certain things over the generations...to create new 'faiths' in this day and age seems a little preposterous...still a massive slice of hypocrisy surrounding it all though imo...!

ive no doubt its no more than a scam to exploit its members, but then no more than the (insert applicable here) church...!!!
