You need to become a car magazine road tester
But they are a spoilt bunch and get so much red-carpet treatment, driving exotic cars in fabulous locations, interspersed with VIP hospitality, they quickly lose touch with reality.
How many times have you heard a fantastic supercar criticised because "I didn't like the interior" or "the driving position wasn't perfect"? Who fecking cares when it's £200k's worth of 200mph automotive art? I get a buzz just sitting in the things
Richard.

Well whatever the ins and outs of the AYC oil, etc, I can't think of anything I could have driven quicker in today on a mixture of A and B roads in the pi55ing rain.
If it had been dry it would have been even quicker and thinking about it, it's proper supercar performance (apart from the pointless 200mph Vmax) for £35k so low mpg and regular servicing is nothing compared to running, say an F430 or a Gallardo.
Even wife seems impressed and fancies a drive. This could get interesting...
Oh yes, baby on the way (Nov 17th) BUT it has ISOFIX mounts in the back!

The clip of Clarkson on track with a Lambo says it all for me - and its not even that at home on a track.
I too subscribe to the view that there is nothing quicker round a country back road.
Simply stunning.

Does anyone rent out these Rally reps at all?
I'd much rather spend a couple of hundred quid on an FQ360/RB320 (or similar) than shell out £500 on a daft supercar (apart from a 911T maybe).
That would be ideal - Someone else takes the running costs and time, I/we pay for the odd days hire - I'd be all over it like a rash!
Superb roads down here for that kind of car too.

Still will be looking at a X ( or possibly the IX 360 which seem to have 5k sliced off RRP for 10 miles....) when I decide to get rid of my WR1, because, as people have said, you expect big costs so as long as you're prepared : you pays your money.......

I bought a six month old IX FQ340 with 4000 miles and £2000 of mods for £25k, but immediately sold off £1k of the mods that I didn't like that didn't make it perform better. It had already depreciated £8k for the previous owner excluding the mods given that he got a £2k discount. Now has 12000 miles and after a year of owning it I wouldn't let it go (and probably wouldn't need to) for less than £21k, it appears to be depreciating about half as fast as my M3 was over similar age and mileage range. In that year I've had two services that have added up to about £450 and no other running costs other than fuel, insurance, tax etc. Tyres are only 17", front brake pads about £150 for OEM or good aftermarket. The oil service interval is every 4500 miles, AYC every 9000. Servicing costs are probably about 3 times that of a Golf GTI that only needs servicing every 2 years and c.19000 miles, but it accelerates twice as hard!

I love mine, although 150 miles between fuel stops does annoy.
Are you coming up to GP live this weekend Ed? Can sort passes for you if you want.
I should be on track Sunday afternoon with some of the 'boys'

[QUOTE=BillyBong;6932295]Wrong way round mate IMO.
AYC = what the **** is it going to do next,

That made me laugh, exactly what I thought.
I had 3 MR FQ 340's Yes three, one got nicked (one of the problems with these cars,) I px one for another STi which felt boring, got another one and px that for a 330d. The last one I had for 6months in which time it had 2 services at Mitsubishi dealer (£208.00 each, I kid you not), new tyres, and a avarage mpg of 16.
One of the most exhilarating cars you'll ever drive, but as pointed out gets wearing after a long journey or ownership. Proberbly one of the reasons why you see low mileage cars with 3 owners.
I don't know about "getting used to the AYC" it does have a mind of it's own at times. The same corner at the same speed 4 time it will just go round it with out a problem then the 5th time it's kicking the back out and really unsettles the driver.
I would like to drive a GT without the ayc which I think spoils a really great car.

To service Evos isnt that big a deal - AYC is nothing. Mitsu dealers do rip you off on brake pads though, about 700 quid front and back. Other than that its grossly exagerrated. They are quite affordable if youre used to running a performance turbo charged vehicle i.e. a Scooby.

I really fancy an Evo, but the running costs mean it would HAVE to be a second car/weekend toy.
My problem would be that if I bought say a 1500 quid run around for normal use and had an Evo sitting in the garage............I'd be oh so tempted to have the Evo out at every opportunity.
It is still an option, although I think a Scoob is still a better day-to-day car.

I drove mine daily, cost lots but you cant put a price on fun
10k miles cost me £2000 in fuel.
I bought a £500 Audi a couple of months ago, but in hindsight I should have got it when I bought the Evo. I just used it a couple of days a week, and shopping trips. Trouble is my drive to work is a real good drive to had to be firm and use the beater every now and then.

Mark - Our current car, which I'd keep is actually quite fun to drive so not too awful and a very very good mile muncher on long distance trips.
I have stacks of Cornish roads all around me and the amount of times I'm on them thinking this is proper Evo/Scooby country is unreal!
