When there are places knocking out the core deal for £149.99 I think people will just buy one of them and use their premium pack extras on it. I imagine the consoles will have been banned by serial number as that can't be spoofed so the hard drive etc can just be moved to another machine. As pointed out above the actual xbox live accounts/profiles are not being banned so at least Microsoft are leaving it open for the pirates to go legit if they want to keep playing on Live.

As a 360 owner, Would you buy another console the same as the one you already have just to play on live had you been banned? If that was me I know I wouldn't. I'd use my 360 to play all the copied ****e i thought i was so great getting in the first place, and then buy a PS3 to play legal games online without having to worry about getting booted for being a scruffy pirate
Those same people may buy a PS3 but will end up the playing copied games again and getting banned by Sony. They'll never get it.

, no doubt they will be soon. Even Sony's DNAS protection on the PS2 for online games was pretty robust, I bet its 10x stronger on PS3.

I dont see a problem with it, if people want to flash there consoles and play online you take the risk that goes with it, many flashed 360 owners never put them online anyway.

On the original black box they checked the HD serial number, i'll admit i had my old one chipped and got banned for it containing a non original HD, i also had another for online gaming but the account was closed completly unlike now where you have a chance to redeem yourself.
I've not flashed or have any plans to mess with my 360, it's been mentioned before about rumours MS sending corrupt updates to flashed consoles, because they know these gypos can't complain to anyone.

MS havn't been that affective though have they ? Any system that isn't already banned can now be flashed to go on live again for at least until the next update.
Plus the next software for flashing the 360 with will not be as easily detected.

people thought that chipped boxes could go on live with no problems, just a few weeks back
how does anybody know when the next lot of boxes will be banned?
it looks to me like MS is toying with the pirates a little bit

About 3 of my mates are banned, all those did the update after a firmware flash, 2 of my other mates flashed the console after the update and they are still ok (for now).
