Ta for the info mate. I'm just about to invest in some AP 6 pots for my classic......The price is *ahem* a little on the steep side, but I'm assured that there are no better brakes for a Subaru than the 330mm CP5570 formula kit!

IMHO for the cost of the AP's it's worth throwing another £100 on a set of uprated rear pads, certainly on the lardy newage (EBD able) anyhow..
You still running your vf35 without the dv..?
One other thing, make sure who ever fits your AP's knows what they're doing, cleaning hubs/spacing etc as I recon most of the probs that some people get with AP's are fitting related..
Oh, and another thing lol, it's worth asking whoever's fitting them, before fitting, to remove the bleed screws/nipples put some 'never seize' on the threads. They do have a habit of getting a bit tight over time, esp. the inner ones for some reason..!?

Yep, still running the VF35 with no DV. It's excellent now the the Simtek is on there as no maf= no maf reversion!

Just to update this discussion for future reference..
After recently fitting new disc's (ASP 8 groove and PF 097 pads) to the otherwise std rear (braided hoses only) on my AP fronted 05 WRX, I can now say with some confidence that improving the rear in some way certainly helps keep the car flatter during hard/high speed braking.. Reduces that feeling of the rear going light/skittish..
I can now actually see evidence of the rears doing something lol, disc/pad contact marks, especially when giving them a hard time. Only downside, lol, the rears now get as dirty as the fronts..

i have highlighted this for several years but most seem to pooh pooh the idea, you really do need to see this for yourself as to how "under-braked" even the std cars can be

Know this is old thread, but still relevent and would like to add my two penneth, albeit classic wagon based (lighter back end)
Unimpressed with the standard 2 pot braking (and being tight) went down the usual route of 4 pot calipers from MY00 classic. Fitted new standard shocks all round and Goodridge hoses all round at same time. Immediately had a problem with rear brakes overheating and fading from high speed stops. (my daily commute is at 5am on fen roads so plenty of heavy braking from high speeds). Fitted the vented rear set up found on the MY00 car also. Instant elimination of problem.
Conclusion, bigger front brakes equals more work for the standard rears to cope with, which is why Subaru vented the rears when they put four pots on the front circa MY00. Simples
