Yeah mate all good. Weather here is pants. Typical bank holiday drizzle and downpours stuck inside then you go back to work and its sunny and warm! Today's cold and drizzly.
Mate of mine and his wife are expecting so its all going on. Must be something in the water lol. Anna's parents and two brothers have now emigrated to Canada so our baby plans have been put on hold for a while until we've been over a few times to visit.

All ok, so far. Baby seems to like break dancing! Was not very exciting until the baby suddenly started to jump around, then seemingly settle to lie on its front (just like its Mum does!).
We got ripped off for a couple of photo's then back to the office.
Everyone seems more excited than we are, but hey ho, plenty of time to get used to it I suppose.

Congratulations!
Wife if finally starting to "show" and she's not keen on having a "stomach" at the moment!
Still doing the daily ten mile cycle but I think it might have to stop soon.

Advice/help greatly appreciated.

We have a Graco, that we have had for about a year or so, it also has the baby seat option that lifts off and straight into the car
so as not to disturb the baby
underneath the baby seat on the buggy itself is the main buggy where your child can use once they get a bit older & bigger

...why do you need a car seat. Surely you can just wrap it up in a blanket and put it in the basket on the front of your bicycle...
...or if you have a flashy bike it can go in one of the panniers until it is old enough to go in one of those little kiddie trailers.

Another major thead revival!
Looked into all the kit and simply more bewildered than we were before.
Think sling/small buggy and removable infant carrier/car seat are the way forward.
Until next week that is!

Thought I would add to this thread as Wife had her first scan for our first today! Due 9th December.
All ok, so far. Baby seems to like break dancing! Was not very exciting until the baby suddenly started to jump around, then seemingly settle to lie on its front (just like its Mum does!).

Great news Matteeboy, you have something to really look forward to and you will be like a dog with two tails on the day. Congratulations. ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
That French river chap must have a real chip on his shoulder, or maybe just a vandal suffering from a distinct lack of personality!

May as well join the club, my first is due around 15 Jan. Planned it for about 3months and I was looking forward to a few practice runs but she got caught first time. We have our 20 week scan in 2 weeks and are diciding if we should find out if it's a boy or girl.
It has not really hit home yet I keep forgetting about it until I see her bump.
Pram wise we have gone for the quinny buzz, bit pricy but look's pretty cool and handles good. I quite fanced the Jane which has a 2 pot caliper and wavy disc!!
Been checking out small motor bikes on ebay as well but that will have to wait a couple of years I suppose.

When I was expecting, we got the Pliko Pramette, I think it was called, pram and buggy in one
so has had plenty of use, the carseat was seperate, you haev to get the right one to fit your car. It was a right rigmarawl getting a prwm, with the shop workers pulling them ut and transforming them into all kinds of things
so in the end I said, I wantt he smallest one so I can see above the handlebars ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I'd suggest getting one of them swingy little cots too, they are light and can be put anywhere, our nipper slept in that for a good couple of months before we put him in a proper cot in his own room. Then the swinger cot went downstairs.
I suggest getting a pram/buggy that can be used to its maximum
I dont see any sense in getting a seperate pram and buggy.

I think its easier to find out the sex, that way you plan what to get the child, rather than getting it when its born or buying everything in yellow or neutral, but I can see the attraction to a surprise

i bought one off ebay a little while ago - put it together when it arrived and the instructions said suitable for children 18months +. so i took it all apart again, put it back in the box as my 8 month old duaghter is a little small for it at the moment!
looking forward to using it though and there are cycle paths all over the place where we live, so could be very convenient too

Mattee, I just want to say this, there will be alot of people who will be tripping over themselves to give you lots of advice, and scare stories, and also, say the usual "ooo wait till he's 2, he'll be a nightmare" or "oh no he's at that stage is he, you won't get peace now" etc etc, by all means listen, but when I was pregnant and of course coming up to my sons stages, I got alot of this,. making me very nervous and dreading them coming up, and when his stages DID come up, it was great and we enjoyed it, so don't let people make you nervous, every stage is fun
look forward to them all.
make your own minds up about what is right for your baby too, all this hearsay and advice just isn't what necessarily will be right for you and your child
thats another thing i've learnt ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
ok, rant over
carry on

going back to the buggy debate from a page or two ago, we are still using the icandy apple but have bought a maclaren (triumph??) as well. we went to majorca last month and wanted to take something lightweight rather than the "bentley" buggy
i was surprised to see so many brits holidaying in majorca with big buggies - ie the comfortable one you would use all the time at home, like the icandy, m+p, trek thingies etc. we went for the lightweight option on the basis that it is easier to transport and less likely to get damaged.

Cino - Fear not - with all the info available on the internet, it seems easy to scare yourself silly.
We're taking a relaxed approach (wife reading this too - a brilliant read and endorsed by several people we know!), Amazon.co.uk: Childbirth Without Fear: The Principles and Practice of Natural Childbirth: Books: Grantly Dick-Read,Michel Odent
having it at home (5 mins from hospital) and generally enjoying it all. Wife not mad keen on being less mobile (usually very active) but it's not for long!
Buggy thing seems very OTT - SO many people wanting to grab your money when expecting!

Thats good Matteeboy
I had my boy natural, not by choice mind
it's funny how all your ideals of pregnancy and birth fly out the window when the time comes.

The gas - Entonox - is great stuff.
I was given some by a paramedic after dislocating my knee just to help it pop back into place. Felt as high as a kite on that stuff, and it's legal!
