You would do on the old 2mb service. BT actually offered me that before i left, 2mb consistent throughtout the day. It's when you move up to the max service you'll get the joys of 5.5mb off peak which turns into 0.3mb peak

I dream of 2mb consistent throughout the day.

Pimmo - is this something Virgin ADSL can offer? - I'd rather have 2mb constant than a notional 8mb (ha!) that doesnt work.

Non-cable

that page would suggest only 1 Meg or a MAX service is available, for ADSL services

What I mean is (looking at that VirginMedia page Mike1210 posted) - is I'm on the ADSL (or non cable in VM speak!) Bundle Two - Upto 8Mb Broadband & unlimited Phonecalls.

I'm not bothered about the phone services at all - the broadband is a total joke since the merger - its taken nearly a minute to load this page & thats at 11.30pm! 8mb my ****.

I would like a fast 2mb consistent connection - thats 2mb at 8 o clock at night as well as 2mb at 11 o clock in the morning.

Its all I ask - Broadband that works - I really dont see how they can call this service they offer at the moment broadband - it really is an appalling shambles & I'm amazed no one has taken them (or any other poor ISP) to Trading Standards or court over this. I mean a minute or more to load a page of text on 8mb broadband - yeah right.......

I'm being switched from BT to Be* on the 7th . I can say good buy to 50:1 line contention at last....

If you are with BT i'd make a complaint on the ISPA website. This will get you a call from high level complaints department (in the UK!) within a week. They are well aware of the problems in the evening but will do nothing about it, all they have been told to say is it's contention. If you still complain then you could get a call from the 'chairman's office' like me. You'll get various options to get you to stay, including switching back to the old style 2mb connection or in my case able to cancel the contract with no charges after only 3 months into the 12month contract and a shinny MAC code. I obviously took the later as £26 for 2mb is taking the ****..... £24 for Be's 24mb unlimited non contention service appeals more. And if that is crap too (most Be customers are over the moon tho) then you can cancel anytime with 3 months notice.

Can't wait for the 7th... and i can get rid of the bl**dy useless hub too

Tony.
