I know it's not 100% the same....
But I've done a lot of convoy drills in the army and it's hard to get it right with 5-10 vehicles, let alone the amount that were there last night!!!!
Respect
The main pain was the amount of time it took to get around the sea front!!!!
We didn't park until 10!!!!!
A great night though
BTW, brough some radio's today so the Bibos are all set.... do we have a set channel we tend to use?

As an observer towards the front several things I feel need pointing out right from us leaving Tescos.
1. The line up along the approach road ~ Lack of radios made setting off a "suck it & see" affair ~ Same as always.
2. Onto the 127 London bound we did 60-65 until reaching slower moving traffic in the inside lane then took the slip off to double back ~ Same as always.
3. Southend bound 127 we were doing 40-45 while checking out the slow moving line in the other carriageway still going London bound ~ Same as always.
4. We have always held the speed down at the front to allow everyone all the way to the back to catch up. The roundabouts where we double back split us up badly & the only way you will catch up is by us keeping the speed down & keeping to the inside lane ~ Same as always.
5. Looking back people were not letting non convoy cars through ~ Same as always.
6. The speed at the front was actually quicker than we usually do. Work that one out. I have often seen 20-25 behind the leaders & that's before the slow down for the underpass.
7. Future runs will just have to be held at the national limit & those at the back can just play catch up all the way to the front.
You are on a hiding to nothing in this game.
Too fast & the ones at the back either loose you or roll up when everyone else is parked up & on their third coffee.
Too slow & people want to fall asleep in first gear or get out & clean their windscreens.
I have done this run since it was spawned by the Devil & now I think it has died the death. Perhaps the moaners should now take the lead & show you how it should be done.

Mark, I agree with all your points, I never take the lead and on this occasion I found my self in no mans land with three in front of me by 500 yards and you guys behind by about the same distance, I coudn`t go any slower and as quoted above I actually stopped at one point.
Please excuse my comments as I know a lot of people don`t know how to take me. I have a very dry sense of hummer and a bit of a **** taker and if I offended you I am now publicly apologizing
You have done a lot of good for the club from what I can read over the years and and I hope you will continue to lead
The only reason I posted as I did was myself and the other guy in the silver classic nearly paid the price for us all, With dangerous driving charges, and please who ever leads a 40 MPH would be better.

Don't laugh!!!!
I brought a pair of watch radios!!!!! (little Bibo loved them...) at a boot sale today
But as well as a 3k range and earphone/mic remote if required, rechargable batteries with 2 chargers, all new boxed, they also tell the time
Oh and were £4!!!!!!!
They had 3 sets and would have done a deal for all of them!!!!

Flat Eric - Wasn't having a pop mate, just reporting how it was near the back. I know it is hard to please everyone.
Fully respect what you have said and what you do each month, I don't think it helped that the A127 was pretty busy anyway. Don't throw in the towel yet mate!
This is SirFozzalot by the way

I don't think that everyone that turn up understand these rules!!
Why is it when Flat Eric pulls out to lead you a group of people who want to over take him + there a few who need to calm down a little this is not a race to the sea front I had one scoob under take down the slip road just past the Rayleigh weir underpast & before you crack a joke about me driving to slow there were a lot of police around, this sort of thing is not good & gives us a bad name
As for driving to slow I see 3 or 4 cars at the front weeving in & out racing each other
Maybe we slowed down to distance our selfs from that sort of behavour.

From an observer's point when i've been on the cruise I often find that people don't move over to let the normal traffic through that seem's to be a big problem which slow's the traffic and will get the cruise a bad name, generally people not abiding by the rules

although i've owned an impreza on and off for 2 and a half years now, last night was the first time that i've done the posers all the way down to southend. i didn't think it was that bad tbh.
flat eric seemed to do a brilliant job of getting everyone out of the car park and lined up as best he could. with the amount of cars there, there was always going to be hold ups and people getting split up from the rest.
agreed that more radios were needed. i borrowed one from work. the problem i found with it was the range wasn't good enough. every time the terrain wasn't dead level the signal would go. but i did get enough information through as to what was happening.
i think the trouble last night was the amount of other traffic on the a127 and at the seafront. with the weather being the way it was, it was always going to be busy.
other than the above, all i can say is roll on the next posers cruise!

Have to agree here, this was my 5th cruise and there weren't as many cars here as the last one, which I believe was better organised in terms of the driving. Was it me or were there more regulars at the last meet too, a lot of cars there last night I have never seen.
I also found last night that when I sat in the inside lane I was overtaken by at least 20 scoobs, even on the London bound stretch of the A127 they were overtaking and I wasn't going slow ! It is supposed to be a convey
Positive comment
Anyway, I took my mate along in his Skyline and he loved every minute of it. He doesn't belong to any forums and hasn't been on a cruise before, but he thought it was awesome and even managed to chat to a few Skyline owners when outside the doughnut stall. (He didn't even realise they waved to each other too!!)
Can't wait till the next one though....should just be home from Menorca to make it too!

I never normally do it but for some reason I always seem to end up last out the car park and as a result last around the seafront and often due to the lights etc. we finish on our own!!!!!
Last night for once I was determined not to be last....
I think I was 3rd from last this time !!!!!!!! (what happened to you Dazza?)
Anyway, there is no real way of ever keeping everyone together without shutting the road, so as long as eveyone's safe.... Long may it continue.....
As for the "Hardcore" not being there..... so what!!!!! Those guy's and gals deserve a night off and as I've said before, the more new people join us, the better......

I'd like to say that I was by no means moaning or criticising the lead cars.
Its a thankless task leading this many cars especially with the volume of traffic there was last night, and most nights TBH.
I too stayed in the fast lane most of the time due to being at the back and also because I like to be in the middle to see what's going on
Maybe a suggestion would be to leave in a staggered fashion and join up at the front for the main pose into Southend.

You didn't miss much, police helicopter flying over the car park before we left, flashing blue lights on the A127 with an over eager policeman dishing out tickets for undersized number plates, and a very busy seafront.....same as usual
