i know what your saying but the written off one was almost free and the sport was cat c stolen recovered (which was also cheap )
i would never make any money selling a cat c sport on in the future so its just a project that i can use practically on a daily basis

the old turbo engine swap idea is good on paper but is usually not worth the effort in practice, turbos are really cheap these days so why not buy one that was designed from day one to run with a turbo.the amount of stuff thats needs to be swapped is scary.
if your honest with the insurance man a turbo'd sport will be more to insure than a uk standard turbo.save yourself the hassle and get a turbo when you can afford one.(thats what im doing)

to an unexperienced mechanic maybe it is scary but i have helped a mate do one and its just time consuming
and his insurance was actually £250 cheaper! i've also read about others with turbo conversions who's insurance was cheaper!
downsides are, selling, cost to put together and actually building it...

why bother? I just dont understand. Why spend all that time and money on upgrading a sport when you could just buy the real deal and not have people laugh at you. Its a waste of money in my book and the scooby sport is a joke. Teenagers in their hatchbacks run rings around sports.

A sport is not a waste of time, Maybe some of us have reasons why we dont have a turbo :P like insurance or maybe someone wants to be able to say they did something other people said they cant and made a turbo out of a sport, I think if he does it and it works then its a great achievment and if it doesnt work and it goes pop then at least he had the bottle to try it! and have notes so people after him might be able to! good luck with the project!

Buying a sport and making it look like a wrx/sti is just plain stupid. Save up and buy the real deal. Many these days say the wrx is a joke, never mind the laughing stock of a car "sport". Its not even slightly sporty
PS
How old are you and how much is your insurance?

the sport is a joke of a car. I cant see why anyone would even contemplate buying once considering the competition.

I have a latest generation pre-FL mercedes 320cdi. I also have a volvo S40 and a Transit connect.
So in conclusion to the Leon FR vs Scooby "Sport"
1.The leon has a better interior.
2.The leon has a better image
3. The leon is more powerful
4. The leon is faster
5. The leon is cheaper to insure
6. The leon is cheaper to modify
7. The leon looks better
8. The leon gives better MPG
9. The leon chucks out less C02 emissions
10. The leon is cheaper to service
11. The leon comes with more standard equipment
12. The leon has more interior space
So basically the leon is a better car in every single way, for the same price as a "Sport". Did you sport owners even look at the competition? As surely then you would have never bought the dismall sport.
Or maybe its because you wanted so desperately buy into the chav image, but without paying the costs to get the added ooomph with it
