I'm inclined to agree. I read this today, so a few people are thinking similar

do you realy think they are enjoying their holiday have we seen them on the beach and doing water sports?
. i havnt seen them enjoying any of the trappings that are at their disposal.
if someone offered me a lear jet to help find my daughter i would snap up the offer straight away. if you remember, initially they didnt have the support they now have. these offers were mostly from people that are at a loss to help want to contribute something. at the end of the day the parents are going through something none of us will ever have to go through. if they had left their child for 15 minutes, 5 minutes or 5 seconds, or even went to the toilet in the same apartment but another room as the child and something happened they would get criticised.

Child abuse and the Internet (Issues paper no.15) - National Child Protection Clearinghouse
Telboy, I see what you're saying, but there is still no conclusive proof that 'in general' exposure to something be it child pornogrpajhy or violence in films or whatever leads to an increase in related activities.

Indeed from the very paper you quote comes this sentence:

"Research to date has not determined whether child sex offenders are more, or less, likely to offend if they view and/or collect child pornography"

There will always be exceptions where something triggers them to act but my point is that whilst this could now be material distributed via the Internet it could just as equally have been some other medium in the past.

sara, Iim not so sure about the parents now At the end of the day, they did leave her alone and they do seem to be "milking" it, sorry if that seems harsh.
It's Maddie I feel for, not them

i see it differently...

just because they made a disastrous mistake, for want of a better word i dont see how this reflects on them as parents.

If Maddie was snatched - Why were the other two kids left ?

Something very fishy about this whole affair.

Well If I were in stealing a 4 year old to order I might just take the two toddlers aswell - kind of a bonus !!

Would have thought two babies were worth more than one 4 year old who knows who she is and where she's from !

Very very fishy.

i do think the parents were stoopid for leaving 3 kids in bed and being a long distance away, but its not like they expected it to happen. they were just too trusting

i could never have a pop at my mate lesley, if you had met her all you would want to do is hug her

before the mcanns arrived in the resort a particular child may have been wanted for a prospective buyer. by taking the others as well they were more likely to get caught. it was prolly all planned long before maddie was taken

Exactly my point about 'assuming she was in the apartment in the first place' which I honestly don't think she was.

I'll comment on their ineptness as parents because I KNOW I wouldn't be guilty of child neglect.

when my daughter was a baby and asleep in the house with a window open, i may well of been in the garden, which is pretty big. someone could enter an open window and remove her from the house, would i have been wrong to do that?

I don't think theres many different opinions about the person who took the child, i.e long, slow painful death. The debate is peoples views on the parents.

I'm not sure about the various stories about if she was in the room atall etc but something doesn't add up and as much pain as the parents are going through it's nothing to what the child has probably gone through.

The parents were at fault IMO.

so when final closure comes to with Maddie being found will the parents then return home and donate every remaining pound they've generated into a child support fund?

Where are you Madeleine Mcann - If we could turn back the hand of time how life would be content for many of us. Having the chance to avoid history heartache would be like winning the national lottery. For some folk just being able to utter those absent words "I love you" at the time of losing a loved one - would be a fulfilling obligation to them self and maybe to the person they lost. If you never had the opportunity and those special words were never spoken, then they will be heard in prayer.

Where are you Madeleine? Two people oblivious to the outside world and in so much pain are Gerry and Kate Mcann. We talk not of pain from blood stained knees sustained in prayer, we talk of the agony a parent endures after having their child kidnapped. The good news in most kidnappings, as awful as it may sound is, children are usually returned home unharmed in exchange for money. What do Gerry and Kate pray for? Do they pray Madeleine`s situation be different. I.e. kidnapped and held for ransom so they can bring their baby home?

What we have to remember when in prayer for Maddie`s safe return is, there are other grieving parents who have lost children too. The reason why Madeleine`s disappearance is strongly highlighted in the media is because it is an up to date abduction. Along with Gerry and Kate, our prayers are with those other parents also.

What do Gerry and Kate pray for? Silent in thought, millions of people continue to search and ask "where are you Madeleine Mcann".

No person can ever feel the same pain as the childless couple whose child has been abducted unless having experienced it themselves. However, we can empathize and give as much support as possible, let us help by not forgetting the angelic face of little Madeleine. Whether it is a day, week, month or year, if the whole world comes together in unison, we may bring this innocent little girl home.

If you are the abductor of Madeleine, it is not too late to mend your ways and send her home to mummy and daddy. Put the shoe on the other foot and picture your own mother's face after you had been taken from her warm bosom. Imagine you yourself surrounded by strangers. Hearts were not meant to be broken, and you have broken a million of them. I beg you to have a heart and free Madeleine so she can be back where she belongs - playing with her brother and sister.

At the time of abduction you had your reasons and no doubt believed what you were doing at the time was right; In God's eyes it is wrong. However god is forgiving regardless of the crime. Remember "He who cast the first stone" and all that.

Madeleine`s parents will always be under investigation from the public, where much debate has taken place all over Europe in trying to justify their actions, i.e. leaving their children alone on that fateful night. There is no point at this stage dwelling on their comings and goings, the damage is done where we have a missing child The right thing to do now is to find Madeleine. Maddie`s parents will have to live with this nightmare for the rest of their life. Let us pray that it is with Madeleine safe back in their arms.

Without doubt Gerry and Kate pray for a miracle - could that miracle be that the Lord turn back the hand of time so that dearest daughter may never have to relive this ordeal for the rest of her life.
