All of this is assuming the kid was even in the apartment when they went out.....this does not add up. Time will tell.
IF this had happened here in the UK would it have made such headlines?
IMHO the answer would be NO, So best thing go abroad and do it....
Make a few quid, daughter returns safe and well and all gets forgotten....
The more i see the parents the MORE i feel my opinion is correct, both look a
pair of sneady gits (all IMHO of course)
I only hope i'm right that way the little girl gets to come home.

Never thought of that, BUT i do feel the parents are involved in this affair.

The justification that thousands of other parents would have done the same is a little like saying thousands of people break the speed limit every day. It does not change the fact that the law has been broken.
Every once in a while someone's excessive speeding may result in a tragedy - it does not make them any less guilty of the initial offence.
This is a profound tragedy and I cannot agree with the commentators here and in the press that we should put culpability aside.
Separately the comment made by the author of gatty's cut and paste disgusts me with their assertion that this abduction is getting coverage because it is fresh. Across Europe (based on UK stats) there must be at least one such abduction a week if not more often. What of the other four unfortunate souls stolen away this month?
Maddy is in the news because she is a beautiful blonde little girl, the daughter of a very photogenic mother. The same reason she would be attractive to paedophiles, or more mundanely why she would be worth a six figure sum on the child trafficking/adoption market.
It is a horrible, tragic story, and that neither excuses the parents or raises them above the same laws that apply to all of us, or should it remove us from the very hope that the greatest victim in this has the chance to come home to her surely contrite parents.
PS A post script to gatty's point. Leaving your door open with kids in the house is completely different to leaving very young children in the house and then popping off down the local at the edge of the estate.

so there off flying about and without there other two kids?? the last thing any responsible parent would do, after going though that would be to leave any other child out of your sight
i do hope she's found, and then both parents are prosecuted
if they end up making money out of this, which they will, i'd like to see them shot

Just checked on their website at http://www.findmadeleine.com/
and the donations so far total £374,352.75.
I hope there is going to be proper accountability for this money.
I still say they should not have left kids on their own out of sight for upto an hour.
The NSPCC include in their definition of neglect
Physical neglect:
· Abandonment
· Inadequate supervision

For those of you in any doubt now - if you read their website it states that they have daily meetings with their 'press officer' after leaving their kids in daycare.
The blog also refers to stopping for photo opportunities!!

So following the visit to the pope what happens if a priest hears a confessional from some low-life who admits to holding Maddie?
Is the priest bound by confidentiallity?
