This kind of thing makes me livid!!
Why are we paying Smallcock, Pretentious and ****.co.uk 400k to produce something I would have expected a primary school student to have produced!!!
The olympics is supposed to be about community and participation, so why weren't the public asked to send in thier ideas for designs? Plenty of talented artists out there who'd have done it for free and produced something a damned sight better!!
Obscene waste of money!! Those responsible should be sacked!!!

People who think this kind of expenditure is justified are the kind that sit on committes afflicted by 'too much time, not enough brain syndrome'
No wonder the Olympics is costing so much more than originally projected!!

I agree about getting Joe Public designers to send ideas in - many young designers would have loved the chance to contribute and establish a stage for themselves.
The only thing that surprises me is that given the timescale and the potential budget £400k is a bargain basement branding exercise they have gotten exactly what they paid for.
An average branding exercise for a brand of this value would be minimum £1m and anything up to £10m and beyond.
It is very easy to spend £400k on design and production for a project taking a year, especially when it includes film production which this did.
At the end of the day it is a huge ****-up and they know it.
I suspect Wolff Olins must be very concerned now - not that this was rubbish - the knock on effect for the rest of their business.

"Christopher Filmer rang BBC London 94.9FM to say he suffered a seizure while watching the footage on television and his girlfriend also suffered a fit and needed hospital treatment. "

According to the Daily Mail this morning Seb Coe is refusing to endorse saying he was not involved - seems a bit odd to me - probably just crap writing in The Mail.
Maybe it is a bit like New Coke - leading to the massive relaunch of Classic Coke.
Soon we will have Classic Olympics.
Wolff Olins are looking more embarrassed by the day!
