****.... That is rough mate.. At least your all OK. I got broken in to in Jan and they broke into my house and stole the scooby keys from out of my jacket and also stole a few small items. We were in bed sleeping and my 2yr old daughter was asleep in her room. Im happy they found what they wanted and did'nt come up stairs. Who knows what would have happened.

I got my car back 4 days later un-marked with about 60 miles on the clock, The sat nav and a few bits gone and no one was arrested for it

I think its about time we protected ourselfs and invented a car alarm that when you alert the car that you are not in it and it's been hi-jak the car will lock its self up The engine shuts off and then there is a leathel gas released in to the car....

Now steal fu@king SCOOBYS you w@nkers

It's a bit of a diffferent scenario when you're facing 5 goons with crowbars with your family in the vacinity. I would have done the same thing under the circumstances.

One-to-one is a different matter entirely, but even then, discretion may be the better part of valour!

Nasty,

Glad your Ok. My STi went a month ago, but they broke in around the back and took the keys without making a sound.

Would have been terifying to meet 5 like that, knowing me I would not then have been able to acutally find the keys.

Makes you think that leaving the keys downstairs is the best option.

So many scoobies being stolen !

Thats what worries me, i'm terrible if i'm woken up from a deep slumber. Half the time I couldn't even tell you what day it is let alone where I left the car keys last night!

Sounds like a very nasty experience though, I never take my keys to bed but never leave them in plain sight of the door or window either.
Spare keys on the other hand are very well hidden, don't want someone robbing the house while i'm out and coming back later for the car.

Glad you and the family are ok mate

Nothing I can say really that hasn't been said already. Let me echo the sentiments of so many others and say that I'm glad you and your family are ok.

Regardless of the M.O, all thieving scum are as bad as eachother. It's getting pretty bad though when 5 masked men turn up at your door! If they break in and nick your keys....well.........bad, but not as bad as kicking your front door in while you are all in the house.

Unless you are trained for such circumstances, no-one will really know how they will react to such an event. One on one, with you upstairs and the thief downstairs, you have a good chance. The height advantage you have as he tries to climb the stairs towards you will probably see him on his **** after a swift foot in the face, but no way could you attempt to tackle 5 men.

I'm not in favour of guns....we'll end up with a society like America and we all know how f*cked up they are!! I do however feel that the law needs to chang in favour of the victim. If someone breaks into your house WHILE YOU ARE IN IT and happens to get smashed to f*ck in the process.....tuff sh*t eh? You can defend your property with "reasonable force", but I suspect that a chinese burn isn't really enough to put off many would-be burglars........."Reasonable Force" should read "Whatever you need to do mate.......it's your house.....try not to kill him too much"!

Once again.....glad you are ok. I suspect you may change cars now?

Don't agree with the US style shoot first ask questions later approach but the police response for this type of thing should be huge and at a minimum a prison sentence should be dished out for this type of crime.
With no real deterrent it will not stop.
I can get fined £60 for speeding yet someone who steals a car and pleads poverty effectively gets sent home with a slap on the wrist - not right.

I do agree with the 'shoot first ask questions later' scenario. I mean if these kind of people turn up at your house, kick the front door in and are armed with crowbars then it is clear that they are there with a real intent to do harm and will stop at nothing to get what they want. We all work hard to pay for things in life so why should some thieving tw@t take it away from you so easily?

The deterrant would the 'shoot first' situation. At least they know there would be chance of being seriously injured whilst trying take someone's car from them.

Out of interest, what does the insurance company say about this? Effectively handing the keys over to someone? I want to know as if I was in the same situation i'd do the same thing.

The keys were handed over under duress (i.e. it was a robbery), so the insurance company will have to pay out.

Glad you are all ok.

It makes me feel better knowing that my car is locked away in our company's workshop whilst im out working nights and that its not on the driveway at home so my family would not have to put up with these mindless ***** in the middle of the night.

UK justice system is bollox, why dont we all just go out and rob people for the things we want instead of working our nuts off - it would appear you can get away with it.

F**king Scum. Hope they all die a horrible death.

TBH If that happened to me, and if I had time, I'd get my Shotgun out. The first scummy ****** to step foot in my property would get his Kneecap blow to the other side of the room.

As for getting dogs. I have a Staffie and to be honest I wouldn't want him having a go a 5 tooled up w@*kers as they'd think nothing of killing him. One on one yes, he'd tear them a new @rse, but 5? No way.

Barretta's are harder than Dogs anyway

Glad they never hurt either yourself or your family. Goes to prove to people on here that insist on sleeping with there car keys upstairs. It's just not worth being killed for. Leave them where the scum can get them quickly. The sooner they leave and leave you and your family alone, the better.

TBH Having the operation of the car being contingent on part of your anatomy being present is the last thing you want mate!! In a situation such as the one the poster found themeselves in, you want to keep the attackers as far away from you as possible!!

The beauty of Blackjax is that by the time the Scum realise something is wrong, you (and your family, if applicable) can have hi-tailed it to a safe refuge!

It doesnt work I'm afraid. Just look at the US where every ****** has a friggin gun. All you would end up with is more armed robberies, and more fatalities.

To the OP: I'm really sorry to hear what happened. There is some real scum kicking around this country. I'm glad you and your family are ok, and hope your wee kid aint too distressed by it all. Does make you wonder sometimes, what's the point in having a nice car..

If there is any justice in the world they will crash and burn.

i'm with you on the shotgun thing, but i wouldn't rely on your staffie, he'd probably want to play with them, or lick them to death, the staff has to be the most people-friendly breed there is. it makes you wonder if you are safer parking your car on the street away from your house so the lowlifes don't know where to go for the keys.

This was from a reliable source but I cannot remember for the life of me who it was. Can anyone here can confirm this?.

I was told that you cannot be held responsible for your actions if they are proven to be within 2 mins of waking up due to not being of sound mind and being fully conscious.

So is it possible that you can keep a knife at the side of your bed with a stopwatch and stab any thieving **** within 2 minutes of waking up and get away with it.

Sorry to hear this
I take it you didn't have time to call the police before they got in and there wasn't a tracker fitted so little chance to catch the B******S
