My old xr2 i had 8 years ago was worse than my scoob by a long shot £40 to fill 100 miles to empty lol the scoob i see 180miles to the same tank and fuel was a lot cheaper then. All mine is town driving we have no motor ways down here.

At the risk of sounding PSLewis here, I have got 330 out of a tank quite a few times before -long cruise on motorways and dual carriageways.
Then again - it is an unmodded uk 2000 turbo, which probably helps.
I do a round trip of 160 to work and back at least 3 times a week - I can get two of these trips out of a tank easily because its motorway.
All these miles make the service intervals come round real quick though!
All depends on mods / journey length / motorway or town / driving style.

Excuse my ignorance, im very new to this scooby ownership, only had mine 3 weeks, but is it essential that you run them on high octane fuel? What would happen if you ran them on normal fuel?

as far as i know the japanese imports like mine are programmed by the ecu to run on 100 ron japanese fuel. The closest we can get is 97 ron (optimax, bpultimate e.t.c)
I beleive that the car has problems running on 95 ron.even using 97 if you start to modify and up your boost then you can get detonation where the fuel mixture is incorrect and something bad happens engine wise.i am new to it as well mate but i am using 97 ron to be on the safe side.i am sure there are experts on here who can tell why it is essential to use 97 fuel.

I've got a 2003 STi and i can get 300 miles from a tank also! It just depends on how and where your driving. Short journeys and city driving will kill your mpg, and if you give it some stick the mpg drops drastically. I'm currently commuting 75 miles a day and can easily see 300 miles if i'm cruising with the odd blast here and there!
