I'll third that! I think spoonerisms are one way to good humour and this thread kicked off with the mother of all spoonerisms, reagrdless of who wrote it.
Definately the right place for it as muppets is just for silly scribes

TBH if the OP hadn't mentioned Ronnie Barker then I doubt that many would have even associated that text with him. I'm confused, do you think the bit about the BBC not receiving any complaints is funny I don't think it adds to the 'joke' at all. You wouldn't let someone libel a dealer in that way.

You're missing the point. It is how you respond to these things which is in question, not whether they are right or wrong.

The original post was what it was, that's it. It is the way it was dealt with / responded to which is the problem, and the thing which will not be tolerated.

Regarding the libelling of someone and the comparrison with a company.

1) The story would not have sullied Ronnie's reputation, it could only have enhanced it = no libel.
2) The following post (if dealt with correctly) could have cleared the matter up with hard cold facts, and therefore made the thread clearly accurate = no libel.

I didn't personally know whether the story was true or not.. if that makes me a thicko who is below your level of acceptable intelligence, then I'm afraid that's just one of those things. But it is unacceptable to simply jump onto a thread merely to abuse someone for posting something.

I hope this is clearer now.

b) yes it wasn't Scooby related, but out of 20-30 areas only one is, so why not fragment the site into 2 departments, non-scooby related and scooby related and then everyone will know where to post?
c) it does do 'harm' in the sense it's lazy spam and contributes nothing to the forum. Unless of course you want NSR clogged up with meaningless drivel. Yes of course there's a place for meaningless crap like this, wasn't Muppets created for this specific purpose?

Yes indeed look at the last 10 posts, also look back much further at the many many helpful and worthwhile contributions I have made over several years. Also note my support of this community in my membership fees, I note many on this board still do not contribute financially. I even paid subs when being a member and paying fees provided even scanter benefits than it does now.

I was also one of the original organisers for Beds meets many moons ago, been to very many local meets, bought and sold on here and met a very good many people on here.

Sorry, I'm to be judged on 10 posts of out several thousand just because the Moderator publically throws his toys out of the pram. I will respond to the points in your last post, but if you do not display a grasp of my reasoning, or at least some ability to accept you are wrong about certain points I will simply ignore you with the final word "this is the way its going to be, so like it or lump it".

Your opinion, and clearly not shared by many considering it is heralded as hilarious across the globe, possibly the only reason it is still in circulation. I wonder if your literary achievements will be circulated around the net so willingly in 20 years time.

How we set up the forums has no baring on the acceptability of abusive / offensive or bullying conduct. If you don't like how the forums are layed out, surely your only course of action isn't to abuse people.

Do you have some god given right? Are you better than other people? Abuse, whinging, moaning, drivel. We are not interested in it. Post something useful, maybe dig out one of these really helpful fabulous posts of yours and make a ScoobyPedia article out of it. Do not post abuse on other people's threads. Just post nothing if you don't have anything of value to add.

And we are genuinely appreciative of your support. But dispite what many will have you believe when it suits them, this community isn't a big money spinner, driven by profits and greed. This is a community first, and always will be, so while we genuinely appreciate your financialy support, it doesn't give you free reign to bully people.

Then, please, try to remember what the community is about. Remember how you felt when you first arrived here, and how greatful you was to those who welcomed you and made you feel at home. Please be very clear, that there has been certain behavior in NSR that simply isn't acceptable anymore. In many ways its our fault for letting it get to this stage. But it won't be allowed anymore.

If you feel that strongly about it, and you promise me and everyone here you will never return to scoobynet, I will refund you whatever percentage of your year's subscription is remaining.

Are you satisfied with how many points you think you've scored on this post so far? I haven't abused the swear filter. Read the T&Cs careful, and attempt to understand what the swear filter is there for.

So tell me. What happened to Swiss, who "dared to have a free mind and post what he felt"? You threw your weight around and had a right go at him. Can you not see this?

As for what I expect others to read. Do you not see again, it is YOU who is trying to demand what others have to read, and YOU who is trying to tell people what they can and can't post?

I don't expect you to accept any of this, as I've seen this a million times before.

But I advise you one thing. If you are, in fact, not a complete moron, just take a deep breath, sleep on it, and think carefully about what's happened here. I realise it is undignified to have all of this out in "public", but trust me it will just a whole lot worse if we continue down this route.

And, the bottom line is this :

1) People are allowed to post what they like, as long as it is within the T&Cs.

Me neither. I will indeed display a grasp of your reasoning, I'd like to see the same gesture in my direction too. I could type out a very detailed rebuttal of all your points, however to do so would perpetuate this discussion, and you've already deemed it pointless, I would say childish point scoring.

At least you have now confirmed that NSR is open to muppet style threads, sort of a grey area, to me at least. Goalposts seem to have shifted over the years. There was a time threads like this would be binned to Muppets automatically. I suppose it has something to do with this site shifting from a Subaru based community to something more inclusive.

Re bullying, yes I'm probably more forthright and argumentative than most. However, that's a tag that you could be labeled with on this thread too.

All I want to know is two things:

1) What's the point of a swear filter if you abuse the reason why one is in place

2) You're buying the first beer if the bar was big enough for 2 alpha males

I'll leave the ball in your court regarding me leaving or not. I shan't be changing and will highlight anything that I see denigrates the site as a whole, rightly or wrongly. Yes it's your baby and you're free to do what you want with it. It's also my baby along with thousands of other users, like you I too get passionate when I feel someone is abusing the site.

OK, you may not appreciate some of the humour that is posted in NSR, but take a look in Muppets to see the kind of humour that gets posted there ad infinitum.
