Quite common practice: Most insurers will tell you never to admit any liability in an accident and not to sign anything as such until they say so. No matter who is at fault. So it looks like daddy is well informed.

All you do is counter act by taking the same stance (of course) and the insurance companies will work it out.....

You need to to help them to help you though: Providing a formal, well written detailed statement of witness from yourself and any other witnesses of every tiny detail in the events before and after the inccident, including times, estimated speeds you were travelling at, and any observations on surrounding hazards on that road. Using facts only and not opinions. This will give a clear picture of your side of the story and will cover your backside as the insurers can use it as a reference in their enquiries.

If claiming not to be at fault why does he 'want' go 50-50?

Agree with the above. I was hit by someone last year; the third party was clearly an emotional soul who got increasingly irate and contradictory in his letters to my insurers. I just stuck to the facts - didn't take long to get his insurers to admit full liability.

If the marks are still on the road, I'd suggest you go back and take good quality photographs of the scene. Just in case Policeman Daddy manages manages to have some influence with the police officers at the scene.

Too late. They could be different marks made later.

A valid, if slightly unoriginal, post (check out the previous page)!

Nothing like a bit of repetition to add some emphasis, eh?

I bought a white 2005 STI a couple of months ago to replace my blue 03, as blue is just too common these days! Is it true that there are that few in the UK? I haven't seen any others about myself, but I thought there'd be a lot more than 5!

Commiserations to the original poster. Here's a picture of mine, just to make you feel even worse!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the damage would only be recorded on the HPI register if the car was written off, and would therefore be given one of the relevant write off categories hence affecting the re-sale value...

If the insurance company don't write it off and repair it then the damage shouldn't be recorded should it???

I'm thinking this because loads have cars out there have had some sort of insurance work done at some point, but when you do a HPI check on them they'll come out clean unless of course it was written off...
