Very interested in one of these in a couple of years' time. Audis and BMW's are for the 60" plasma TV crowd

mmm.... think they look pretty nice. I've never been a big Ford fan, and got given a Mondeo Zetec as a company car. Must admit its ok, not quite on par with my VW, but its not bad at all. My boss has ordered his 'New' style Mondeo Titanium X, I've got to wait till next September before mine is changed. Bring it on.

True.

Typical Autocar sensationalism. They do like it though. Sat in one on Saturday. Big car, but the interior (and specifically that naff centre console) just looks cheap in reality.

Make a cracking second hand buy, that's for sure - but only the fleets, the businesses and the very stupid private individuals will buy one new.

Chris - Sorry. I'm hoping my responses might actually stop AL wittering on about the same old thing again and again.

Anyway, the new Mondeo - Looking like a winner to me - Clarkson's Times write up was pretty good - I'd be nervous buying a car from a firm in such DEEP trouble though!

Looks like a very nice car indeed. Hopefully there will be an ST, RS or Cosworth version. I had an ST24 for a while before I got my impreza and I was rather impressed by it.

I wouldn't, they are just too big. They'd get bankruptcy protection. Similar to the US airlines.

I reckon it looks like a " Bee-em-double-mond-ectra"

WHY do all manufacturers now copy each other? WHERE are the stand-out cars of today?

None of the mainstream manufacturers seem to dare break the mould, and that now seems to include Subaru

have to say new mondeo looks amazing. Im not normally a huge fan but sitting in one of these last week and then getting back into my STI i couldnt help feel how basic the STI is.

I guess you will be able to pick up a decent diesel version for about 10k in 6 months time?

Well i never thought when i started this thread that the old boy would actually go out and buy a Titanium X (TDCI 140) - but he has Not been out in it yet but initioal impressions from him are very good. List price was £23k + but after a hard battle he took it away for just over £18k

Wonder why, who is gonna buy a badly made french luxury car, that in 3 years is worth a third of its list price?

Plus they are ugly as sin!!!

Looking forward to getting mine at end of Jan, pity the twin-turbo diesel motor isn't going to be available for a while yet but the TDCi 140 goes well enough.

I was very, very impressed on my test drive, having driven the new Passat, A4 and BM 320. The handling, body control, ride and noise suppression was streets ahead of all of them.

Like the look of the new Merc C-class but budget doesn't stretch to it.

I went the other way and bought a nearly new V6 GhiaX after my Scoob back in 2001 and later bought a TDCi.

Great cars and the V6 is so smooth but you do have to rev it to get decent performance. Trickle around in it and economy isn't bad, mid 30's mpg is possible on a run. Ran it for a year and a half and 30k miles and not a single problem.

Cheers
Lee
