Sorry, missed that.

Inverted coilovers move the oil and gas reservoir away from the hub assembly so reducing heat transfer so increasing the consistancy of the damping rate over long track session or fast road blats.

It also reduces unsprung weight

Finally the damper rods are stiffer therefore reducing flex under compression resulting in more consistant alignment and therefore better handling and more immediate response.

All good and is what will be fitted to our new Impreza in the next few days

I havent run them back to back with ASTs so cant give a direct comparison but I did run ASTs on our previous Tyre RA. I dont know if my comparison would be valid though as our last Scooby was stolen a couple of years ago and I dont trust my memory to be able to critically compare the two brands after such a long break.

I do remember the ASTs being great on back and bumpy roads with a supple ride although I found them way too soft on track for my liking. Im not critising the ASTs for that though, they just came with springs too stiff for my preference as Id happily sacrifice some on road comfort for better roll control and a lower ultimate angle of mid corner lean.

Don't get me wrong the KW's are very good but i wanted adjustable top mounts so i good dial in plenty of castor (because i like plenty of self centering). No problem buy some mounts, won't fit!!! KW's have smaller thread size on top stud. Waste a week ringing round for some sleeve nuts correct thread ,no chance! Allready bought top mounts so look for engineering shop to make me some nuts. I know it's not difficult but it all took time, car ended up off the road 3 weeks. My sons car in and out in a day including 4 wheel alignment.

Cadwell 10th November? Actually I think that one's booked up now, but there's always the possibility of a late cancellation. Group of us from bigpower forum are going, along with a northloop group, quite a few scoobies amongst them.

Are they twin-tube design or monotube, out of interest? And is the damping adjustment at the top of the strut?

One thing I liked about my old D2's was the teflon coating on the threads. After 2 winters fitted they can still be adjusted no problem. How durable are your Apex's?

cheers

How did they compare at the 'Ring, and do you have the same spring rates on the 2 cars?

Ran coilovers on my last scoob but have replaced it with a standard-ish STi4. Interested to see how much better KWv3's are than my last set, but am warming to the idea of these Apex's.

cheers

I did a corporate day for Javelin earlier this year at Elvington (taking guests out for fast rides in our Skyline) so Colin sorted me with a track day, on the 10th November at Cadwell See you there

Theyre mono tube with the adjusters at the top on the normal and bottom with inverted

I dont believe the threads are teflon coated but as long as the bottom mounts are lightly greased internally before installation they theyre not a problem to adjust.

HI,
might be interested but got a few questions first

1.Is the ride height adjustable on the car?
2.Can you adjust the castor angle?
3.do you have a fitment for 2005 wrx?
4.Can you supply with 6/5 springs,I do a couple of track days and a couple of trips to The 'Ring every year,so want a bit better control but don't want to rattle the families teeth out when we go camping!
5.Last one! How long from placing order to delivery?

Cheers

Excellent. Will you have the inverted struts fitted by then?

Had a very informative chat with your salesguy Kev yesterday. Am very interested in the inverted struts, with road/track compromise spring rates.

Can I have a passenger ride at Cadwell and then buy a set as part of this group buy?

cheers

2.Can you adjust the castor angle? No, not castor, camber.
3.do you have a fitment for 2005 wrx? Just double checking now.
4.Can you supply with 6/5 springs,I do a couple of track days and a couple of trips to The 'Ring every year,so want a bit better control but don't want to rattle the families teeth out when we go camping! No problem.
5.Last one! How long from placing order to delivery? Ill be ordering some in the next week or two with a 2-3 week lead time

Yep, theyll be fitted a couple of days after the car lands

You are more than welcome to come for a ride BUT Ive messed up, we are at Cadwell on the 16th, not the 10th

Ive emailed Colin with a big please please please let me come, he might have a cancellation ont he 10th in which case Ill be there and youre more than welcome for a passenger ride.

Theres also the sight possibility (if we can get two spaces , the engine comes through in time etc) that we might have our monster rwd Skyline there doing some initial shake down testing with its new engine with our tame racing driver. Thats a car you HAVE to get a ride in!

Hehe, yes indeed. You'll have an appreciative audience in the form of the bigpower guys if you can make it along with the Skyline. Many Skyline owners amongst them; it's the predominant car on that forum - http://www.bigpower.co.uk

Thanks for the reply. I'm very tempted myself now.

You guys do well the expel the myths and answers all questions (honestly). That's nice to see.

So i could just swap out the standard struts for these, get another 4 wheel geom. Then i can corner more balanced and generally handle better (in layman terms).

Half the price of ASTs too.

When would you say the inverted application is better than normal. I'm trying to decide which one would be best.

Car doesn't and probably will not see a track, more of a fast road application (390bhp)

I know Stu and the Big Power guys to an extent, we are official traders on the Big Power forum In fact Stu helped me out enormously earlier this year when we fitted a new engine to our Skyline down at AP-Tuning just to find a big crack in our exhaust manifold at gone 10pm. Stu legged it over with a suitable welder at zero notice and saved the day

GazTheHat,

We do try to give honest answers, it works for us as then people believe what we recommend and we get past the point where customers think we are pushing certain goods for the sake of it. Sometimes we recommend a cheaper option, sometimes its the more expensive but we do try to give advice straight down the line irrespective of price.

In answer to your question, yes, you can just fit them, get the car aligned and you should see a substantial improvement in the cars feel, handling and response.

If anyone wants to get involved then please give us a ring to order, the guys here know the score with the offer

I couldnt swear that youd actually notice the difference between normal and inverted on the road so Id probably save the cash and go for normal units instead.

Thanks bren. I'm so leaning into this, need a few more confirmations on money, then i should be able to go ahead.

What's all this about spring rate then? I have prodrive springs on at the minute. That is quite firm to be honest. Wouldn't want to gone more bone-shaking than that, but at the same time want as little compromise.

What's recommended??

All i've been able to find is:

"These springs lower the vehicle approximately 20mm and increase the spring rate by 25%"

Anyone know the Prodrive spring rate for the blob STi??

- Can i get these coilovers tomorrow if ordered today? - As car in garage anyway.

- What is the ride height with these? - Or is it adjustable?

Just got back from a long long day in London. Been to an ECommerce exbo, looking at upgrading our systems.

The coilovers will be imported to order so will take a couple of weeks after the GB goes ahed. At the moment we only have acouple of people who have phoned their details through. As soon as we get peoples conformation then we can get the ball rolling

You can get us on 01274 683633

How many people have phoned through? That would be good to list, then we know how many we are shy.

I need the struts off mid-end of november if i'm to do this. So keen to know if it will be OK to go ahead.

Hi Bren,
do you need to know what spring rates we need before you order or are the springs fitted here by yourselves,if you see what I mean!

I think my rear shock is going (making a knocking noise)

https://www.scoobynet.com/suspension...ml#post7359585

So this might be an opportune time to splash out a little and spend some money. So are these appropriate for a classic STi 6?
