At last, will be fitting coilovers this weekend.

To save time, does anyone have measurements for initial height setting before they go on the car, front and rear? (lock-collar to lock-collar, or total length before fitting) Am looking for about 30mm tyre-top to arch on the front, 35mm rear (215/40-17 tyre on a classic).

And, has anyone tried rotating the front topmounts to give combined caster/camber adjustment yet?

TIA
Andy

Good first impressions. Fitted at weekend and set-up today - 1.5deg camber and 0.5mmm toe-in all-round, rear 5mm higher than front. Topmounts arranged to allow extra camber/caster adjustment in concert, but set to the middle at moment.

Inverted kit, was set to 9 clicks from full clockwise out of the box so that's how I first tried it. Now on 20 clicks, feels good on the road, will experiment further tonight. How have others found the damping adjustment?

Bren, can you supply top mounts like the ones on the front for the rear coilovers? Trying to achieve a bit extra camber without risking the tyres touching the coilover (wide tyres!)

Thanks

No-one have any feedback on settings?

Full soft (classic on 5/4 springs, inverted struts) feels plush for 'ordinary' road driving, apart from potholes. Slightly underdamped for spirited driving though. Will be driving around this weekend on 1/4 of the range from soft (8 clicks) - taking the scenic route from cambs to cheshire, along cat'n'fiddle etc

I run a base setting of 10 from soft. Ive left it to date to try to get a handle on just driving 4wd cars so did three track days without playing. Last week we went to Brands and started adjusting damper settings but the turbo gave up the ghost so play ended early

25 quid a pair:

CAMSKILL PRODUCTS Camber Adjustment Bolts - 14mm Impreza : £25.00 : Subaru Impreza Turbo Parts, Tuning, Spares & Accessories : Suspension - Misc -

You only need one pair, for the rear, as the front has one on each side already.

Sometimes you only need one, or none, on the rear to get the camber you want (1.5deg probably). It just depends on the car.

Already have camber bolts fitted. I am running 225 tyres and they are quite close to the strut. If I pull the camber in any more from the bottom they will touch. I was trying to achieve more camber together with bringing the coilover in a bit at the same time to avoid the tyre touching. Any ideas??

225 on what offset? That width is quite commonly used so I'm surprised it's so close.

Bren, does this mean Micheal is going to call me now to arrange payment? He said he would ring when the coilovers were in stock. Or do I have to call again?

Hello Bren ... and everyone else
i have a couple of question please .. i am really interested in these for £486 delivered, been looking at the D2's on ebay from NZ and find this a much better sounding deal not least as your in the same country as me and seem to be hot on customer service.
I have a JDM 1996 STi wagon and went on a driver training day recently with Track Masters and found my rear passenger side shock / spring is soft and so the inner arch (which has not protection and is like a razor blade) chewed up my tyre.
I have 18" wheels on the car and so the car cant really come down any lower unless i get the arches rolled i would imagine.
If i buy these (if they are still availalbe at this great price) my questions are :

1. will it stop the arch crashing down on big right handers and chewing up my tyres / wheels
2. will it be as good a ride as the current (probably standard) setup .. it seems pretty good at the moment
4. do i have to get the car professionally aligned after fitting (i dont know what camber is for to be totally honest)
3. do you do the fitting / setup ... or have some kind of document detailing it ?

cheers, looking forward to your comments and (hopefully) my purchase in the very near future

1) You need to deal with the problem in the arch itself or fit smaller wheels, youd need a very stiff set up to eliminate body roll to any real extent.

2) By definition a stiffer set up wont provide the same supple ride as a standard set up, you cant have the best of both worlds  Its always going to be a compromise.

3) The coilovers are sold to be installed by an experienced fitter so no, they donty come with instructions.

4) Yes, the car should have its alignment re-set after fitting new suspension.
