I also believe that the death penalty should be brought back. I also think that prison should be a real punishment, no privileges and hard labour every day. Make it unpleasant and they will be less likely to risk being sent up for a spell.

I wouldn't hang him. I'd chop his arms and legs off and stick him inside till he croaked.

This is why we dont have a death penalty - people let emotions get in the way of the law.
This guy is a mentally ill criminal - what is the purpose of torturing him? revenge or tax saving seems to be about it!

Correct and the crime he has committed should be dealt with by way of the death penalty as he has no chance of being treated successfully and there is no reason to keep him alive in prison. He will always be a threat to society and can never be released so the death penalty would be the correct way to deal with such criminals who have committed this type of crime.

Where do you draw that line? If somone nicks my car can i select their punishment as well? or is this a special baby rapist rule you want to introduce?
or are you exaggerating because your emotions are running high?

This little girl was only 2, why should she have been put through this and killed?
It also appears this thing raped a 12 year old girl as well a few years ago but the charges were dropped at the last minute.
Prison won't work with this scum and other imates will not be able to get to him,
so i say Hang this ****.(guilty as charged) got no probs with the noose for him.

It's a sad world and that's no mistake.
I'm in the US at the moment and couldn't believe a TV report I saw the other day.
A 2 month old baby was put into a microwave for 10-20 seconds.
Turns out it was the father STORY HERE
How can people do such things as this?? I cann't even start to understand it.

People like this have no place in the world, put them down like a rabid animal.

I think letting the victims decide the punishment is an excellent plan. I take it no-one has ever broken into your house to steal your car? When you wake up and realise someone has been wandering round you bedroom while you sleep you can think of various interesting and unusual punishments. On the flip side - I don't think we should bring back the death penalty - it is an easy out. Put this guy in an 8*6 cell, feed him porridge 3 times a day and make sure he knows he will be doing this until he leaves in a box in 50 or 60 years time. Mental illness is only an excuse IMHO.

These days because of the lax treatment of criminals and also the lack of discipline and self control being taught to children by parents or schools, life has become very cheap and people are being murdered for no real reason
any more. Also serious sexual crimes are being committed.
This man if he is mentally ill would be treated as such by the courts which is right, but I imagine he still knew the difference between right and wrong anyway. After he committed this dreadful offence, it was said that he left the house knowing full well that he had done something very wrong.
If we persist with the idea that those who commit crimes are mentally deficient or do it because of their background and are therefore not to blame for their actions and thus should only be "retrained" rather than punished, then we will make an even bigger rod for our backs and descend into complete anarchy.

Much as this animal deserves to be put to death, I believe bringing back the death penalty will have the wrong negative effect. We will have the situations where juries know that a guilty verdict will result in the death penalty and so they will be less likely to return a guilty verdict and consequently more people who are really guilty will walk free.

Can anyone answer this ?
Ok, Prison life these days seems to be somewhat a bit of an easy life, especially in comparison to years ago
People who commit crimes, know the law much better and know there is a good chance they can get off with certain crimes, or at least get a much lower sentence and released a lot earlier
With this in mind, has crime rate increased over the last 20 years, if so is it because of the above ?

I think that the crime rate has certainly increased in the last 20 years and beleive that there is no real deterant for crimes. Society finds certain crimes "socially acceptable" these days!
There is no shame to society, we as a nation just accept that there are lowlifes and scumbags and dregs of society - those who drain the taxpayer and all the rest of it.
But we should never accept that children are the ones who suffer at the hands of such animals! I think that perverts and rapists are amongst the worst possible crimes and my heart sincerely goes out to the family members who are left behind to remember what these poor children go through.
Its easy to see why people get so angry - when they look at there own kids (as I do) and recall these sorts of stories - as parents we try to protect our children and the thought of them coming to harm at someone elses hands is indescribable!
We as "normal" people can't understand how a man can get aroused by a two year old to do such a terrible act - thats because we are normal and he clearly isn't!
I think that people who commit such awful crimes should be dragged through the streets for the people to stone until every bone is broken and that then he should have to look into the eyes of the parents - and then be left alone with them.
I do have one question though - why is it that in certain states in America when they put people to death with lethal injections - why do they bother using sterile needles????
