As for legalising drugs, yeh good idea, give anyone who is stupid enough to put the crap into their body enough to rid the earth of their pathetic little lifes. Druggies who do not want to stop are of no use to society so whats the point of continuing their existance?

Why do we all believe we have the right to judge anyone on how they live their life? Most of you making sweeping statements about the evils of drugs no nothing about them other than what you have been told by the news of a society that has banned them.

What happened to the rights of an individual to live as they please? Not everyone wants to be part of society or constrained by that society's morals and ethics. You can't force people to live by your standards and beliefs.

I wonder if you will all be so righteous and conform so freely when the government bans performance cars due to emmissions.

I don't like him, at all, but at the end of the day, he is killing himself. Is it really worth it

You and I probably think not, but it's up to him what he does. He's a grown man. Live and let live is what I say... or maybe not so for long in his case.

It's quite possible to be say a maintained heroin addict and be of use to society. Much like it's possible to be a maintained cigarette smoker and be of use to society. Or a maintained alcohold drinker..........

I agree with live and let live, but don't you think he may be a bit of a bad influence on the youngsters, ie teens. They seem to look up to him. Not good.

yes i agree let him or anyone else live as they want, but there has tobe some limits, mate,
the difference between doherty and other smack heads is he can afford to buy his without robbing some pensioner, so i have no problem with his habit, he will never bother me or any pensioner, let him overdose if that does it for him
i also agree he is an arshole, and being late for court just got the paperazzi all jumpy and got good tv coverage

heroin in pure form does the humane body no harm , i have watched programmes on it, in the eighty's there was a goverment adviser who was an addict, he was a top hospital specialist and functioned normally on herion which he was getting clean from the hospital,

Laws are passed to protect the majority of the population and to safeguard the well being of the young and vulnerable. Of course there are some laws that are an **** and ill thought.

As others have said drugs are responsible for a massive amount of crime in this country.
Should we live and let live with Peado's because they dont conform to our morals or ethics either?

Cheers

The 'knock on' crime is a result of the fact that the drugs are illegal. Take that away and the cost of them would be so low that there would be no need to commit crime in order to obtain them.

Then the only issue would be one of self harm, unlike the 'peado' example you gave.

The best way of reducing harm would be to legalise all substances.

Quotes from Gazthehat:
"He's just in the papers a lot, press blowing things up. Shock-horror, he's in possession of drugs. Who isn't... "

"Fair enough then, but you're definitely in the minority."

The classic druggies argument, convince yourself that everyone's doing it to make your own habit seem acceptable.

I personally, am far too intelligent to do drugs as are most of my friends, in fact only one of my friemds has ever done drugs and he had a complete nervous breakdown two years ago. He is now recovering but sees the error of his ways and doesn't touch cannabis any more.

Not so intelligent, seeing as you probably take some form of drug on a regular basis. be it alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, antibiotics, steroidal medication whatever.

Alcohol and ciggarettes kill more people in a day than Heroin does in a year. Yet because it is strictly illegal, Heroin is seen as the bigger evil.

Of course it is - But that would be unthinkable to Middle England (re: Scoobynet) so it will never happen. Legalising Heroin would mean better treatment facilities, better regulation of product, regulation (read: lowering) of pricing, tax revenue, less criminal activity - The benefits far, far outweight the potential pitfalls.

Never going to happen though, the country can't bring itself to legalise cannibis let alone class A drugs.

Well put!

And not forgetting a lot of drugs were once legal, until the PC's got their mits on them.

Well I never knew he sang this, till I heard it on the radio last night. Him and Amy Wino will be dead soon if they don't pull their socks up, what a waste

I saw him on T4 the other day - He had really cleaned up, and he was properly sober - He came across as a really good guy.

I just hope he can keep it up

I like him, and hope he does well. I can sympathise with him in a way, because a while back I became addicted to crack, but then I got a regular girlfriend.
