Sigs can be made easy to control. On my own forum we only allow a maximum size of 400 (L) x 100 (H) pixels. If they're all the same size then its easy to follow threads.
Then the moderating team can easily watch out for the size difference as everyones should be the same.
As far as content, well that goes without saying. People should be adult enough to know what they'll get away with.

OH well, so now alot of scooby owners looking for a solution to a problem are going to miss out. A lot of information is now being lost unless you pay.
I guess there will be alot less members now.
Its made the site unusable for me now when trying to find any past solutions / info on problems
Many users that prehaps use this site alot may well pay it, but i see this as a sad sad day.
Just my opinion.

Dont get me wrong, I am a member of a few other forums and you should see my bloody avatars and signatures there .But that is because the forum allows it. Here i prefer the posts to do the talking and not the extra stuff under your name or under your post.

The £5 is a one off payment, and is about the price of a few pints down your local or a pack of smokes
We now have ScoobyPedia that hopefully will start to fill up with more and more valuable information
I use the site quite a lot, and have gained a lot of information from SN, so i don't mind coughing up a few quid that I wont really miss (ok it may mean I have to forego my supersize breakfast lunch for a day)
If you really get that much information out of the site then surely it has to be worth a fiver

Thanks so much for all the support everyone

The ScoobyNet Plus membership is a totally seperate thing to upgrading your account from a free account to a full member account, so you can do one, or the other or both

Read the thread before making inaccurate statements.
This has been covered. You can use google to search scoobynet, or you can pay a very very tiny sum (£1 for each year you've been a member in your case) and use our search facility. Free or paid-for.. its up to you.

Images in signatures
I think - certainly for now - we will continue as we are, and - as requested - will not allow images in signatures.
-
Swiss
Search Function / ScoobyPedia.
As discussed before, this is a great idea, and will be implimented. We need to get just a little more articles in scoobypedia first to justify it, but then its full steam ahead and shouldn't be TOO much work to impliment.

We are actually (strangely enough) in the middle of investigating a seriously great set of scoobynet mugs!

Excellent will you be looking into a great set of scoobynet jugs too
Seriously though at the end of the day if Scoobynet is invaluable, cant live without some features like search etc and you come on here for help, advice (whether it be car related or women problems ) read the latest news, buy some 3nd hand clobber etc, then surely Scoobynet *has* to be worth a fiver

RE: Signatures.
My post, number 51 it think was, was cheating for showing a "signature", just in case anyone was concerned. I typed it withing my post and inserted the image.
I don't mind a little one-liner as a sig, but it narks me a bit when people have bloody huge ones with pics and specs etc.
Micky.

I really hate reading posts like Claaarkio's, he hasn't read the thread properly and then whinges about the £5 one-off fee.
A 'something for nothing' merchant, obviously Scoobynet runs on fresh air and manages itself.

If the small fee stops the forum from filling up with people posting drivel then its a small price to pay, whether it will or not is another matter.
I can't believe there are people that moan about paying a one off tenner for the next 10 years of SN use?

They are currently limited to 4 lines, and no images. I think this is going to be ok for now, but we'll adjust this as necessary

Thank you
As said before though, the ESC badge payments are to help pay for the set up and running of the clubs's own forum, and there will also be some additional benefits to club badge holders in the near future.
So this is a completely seperate thing.

"M!"? PM me and tell me what you mean and we'll sort it out.

hmm, didn't see your last post until after I typed my first reply. I'm sorry you feel that way, but I'm afraid you've just completely misunderstood the entire concept.

Thanks again to everyone who is supporting us, this really makes a big difference, and we're going to work hard to make sure that everyone who supports in this way gets as much benefit as possible.
All the best

I was expressing my opinion and was not having a go at anyone!
Good day.

OK
I've added a google search to the drop down menu now, so its even easier to use.
Claaarkia
I accept that using google isn't QUITE as good as using the scoobynet search for SOME types of search.
But surely, if you are using scoobynet for that kind of level of usefulness, that you find as vital as your strength of oposition to this would seem to indicate.. isn't it worth a fiver to you?
If not, then what you're losing is tiny.

I honestly couldnt begin to list how much money Scoobynet, its information, its users and its links / contacts have saved me over the years!!
I truely would have been lost without it coming from a background where I new very little about Imprezas!
A fantastic resource, full of great people willing to help!
Im happy I can contributing to the development of Scoobynet!

I think I would have paid up BUT for the fact of a few things.
There was an issue a few weeks back regarding a GB that was removed (now is back), I put a post up asking where it had gone... my post asking such was removed and an explination was never given as to why my question post was removed (was also restored), if you have mods who are overzelous and dont appologise/explain then it will tend to get peoples backs up.
As you have said it is very little £ for such a good site, but dont forget the information is all from users posts and you are just maintaining a DB for users to further populate/search. It has obviously become so popular and become quite a large commercial concern (companies paying to advertise etc) unlike the other smaller boards, my worry is that there will be future charges etc etc
