Mark, we had him since November, so was before chrismas hehe. We're just glad he went to a home as good as yours

I have goven Scooby his tablets and sedative, he still has blood on his nose, it's not dripping out, but there is the odd tiny speck here and there, so I am hoping he will doze off soon and it will stop and hopefully hold off until his vets appointment later today. I am panicking in case he has a big bleed again though

One of the problems we may have on deciding the target for the scooby fund thing, is that whatever the treatment will cost, may be an estimate from the vet rather than an actual amount, plus judging by recent events he could well need more stays with the ER vet, more injections and goodness knows what which keep on bumping things up by a substantial amount, then if the treatment doesn't work and he needs the op, that's going to cost as much as the treatment! I feel this is asking far too much.

We appreciate the offers and have felt completely overwhelmed by the generosity of you all.

I think the best thing we can do is speak to the vet this evening and discuss costs thoroughly, then post up the outcome and the SN massive can decide on the target as we do not want to take the pee and be cheeky in any way as we are aware this is a massive thing to ask of anyone. We would never have wanted to accept anything had it not being for so many offers and we don't want to offend anyone by refusing, you have no idea how grateful we are, I just hope that one day we can help someone else in the same way if it is needed any time

IMHO you are so wrapped up in all this that you are making things too complicated for yourselves. My feeling is that some people would like to contribute towards ongoing treatment costs. No need for targets - just use whatever is received to help out. You must make it clear that no gifts would be refunded whatever the outcome and if there was an excess then bang it into a respectable dogs charity. But do it soon. And don't worry if you get any flak about it all dl

I was going to say about if anything did happen to Scooby (huge bleed too big to survive or something) that those who donated should decide on the charity for the remainder to go to

I think I am just a worrier and want to do the right thing and my head is pretty pickled right now

We just want to help, your not taking the pee, put it another way, what Scooby is going through must be hell for him alone let alone You and Steve, not only that you have to think of youself and that young baby you are due to have in December As a dog owner and lover and having lost one dog a few years back, but she was 11 years old poor Scooby is only 2 so he has a lot of cat chasing in him yet I think you will find most people want to help simply because he is such a beautiful dog

Where is the link to the donation thread? The exact thread please, not a page of threads i have to sift through. Thanks.
Sorry to hear about this horrible drama the dog and owners are going through.

It hasn't been setup yet, as we are waiting for the visit to the Vets tonight and hopefully Scooby's results will be back in, so we will be in a better position to know what we are up against

The donations idea is a great one, count me in, if there is any excess at the end, something like Battersea Dog's Home would be a good charity!

Poor lad's out of it now with the sedative

He has a little trickle from his nose that dripps occasionally, I have wiped his nose, but it's still there, but not pouring out like it was yesterday, I *hope* he will stay like this or at least stop for the rest of the day before he's taken to the vet's later on. I'm worried in case he starts again like yesterday before Sonic gets home I won't settle today.

I have seen this thread in here on and off recently but never got round to reading it as not much of a dog fan myself (more a cat person but the less said about that the better on SN ) Anyway I have now read the thread and would just like to say count me in for a donation as you can't help but feel moved by Scooby's plight.

Set a target that will cover all the costs so far incurred and those predicted (at worst case scenario) Any money not used, buy pet insurance for the next year and donate the rest to a animal charity, RSPCA, NCDL, BLUE CROSS, PDSA etc.

Wishing you, the children and Scoobie all the best.

And for those who are still not sure if pet insurance is worth it, learn from others mis-fortune. Just read the pain and anguish that poor scoobie has caused.

Thanks everyone

And you're right, this is probably one of the best adverts for why to make sure your pet is insured

I can only speak for myself by saying that any money I donate is yours to use as you would if you'd had the money in the bank to pay for things yourself.
If you reach a point (and hopefully you wont) where everything has been tried and failed then you shouldn't feel obliged to continue with treatment just because the fund is still there from Scoobynet.
You're both obviously animal lovers and I think it would be a shame for Scooby to miss out on a chance of getting better just because the treatment is beyond you financially.
Scooby and yourselves have touched the hearts of a lot of people on here. I for one just want to see him get better.
If it ends up that there's too much money in the pot then worry about that when it happens. I'm sure folks on here can run a poll or something to decide on what to do with it.

I know what you're saying, but if it does turn out that anything happens to Scooby through whatever circumstances then I would feel awful keeping the money as it will be there for him, I think the poll idea Enigma mentioned would be better, say for a charity or something, I dont feel it would be right to keep anything left for the baby, that would be sheer cheek

Oh dear...for fiddles sake!

People NEED to help DK1. You would be the first to suggest a similar solution to someone else's plight. Money is just that....money..... and when those of us who need it, don't have it, and it's for something as important and special as Scooby....you have to be big enough to accept the offers of help

Sorry if I sound abrupt but the last thing you need to be worrying about right now...is your financial situation. Let people who care about you and your family, help you. You have to concentrate on Scooby, vet's bills, endless distress for all of you and actually survive this ordeal.

I have no problem what-so-ever giving you some cash. You have a million other things to worry about and I can't do anything to help you with those things

jesus, what a rollercoaster of a thread. i hadn't read it foolishly thinking it might be a scoobynet slanging match of some discription and as a lover of all pets that would wind me up. genuinely holding my breath when you're reporting the bad times

really don't know how you've held it together to be honest, sounds horiffic mentally and emotionaly. my family had a bad experience with our family cat nearly a year ago (26th this month) and to be honest i still don't think i'm over it, sounds daft but the people who feel this way about pets will know what i mean.

wishing you, your family and scooby the best

Thank you for all the comments once again

I/we went through an ordeal in January when Piphead my cat of 12-134 years disappeared only to find she had been runover, and we only found her a week later (big thread on here about it at the time)

Anyway

Scooby is home, and here are a couple of pics I have just taken, his nose doesnt look too good from the pics, and you can see the fur they have shaved off his leg for the blood tests

I will post up shortly what the vet said, and post up the Scooby Fund thread also, we havent eaten yet, so i will try and be as quick as I can with the updates, sorry to keep you waiting
