Oh dear...for fiddles sake!
People NEED to help DK1. You would be the first to suggest a similar solution to someone else's plight. Money is just that....money..... and when those of us who need it, don't have it, and it's for something as important and special as Scooby....you have to be big enough to accept the offers of help
Sorry if I sound abrupt but the last thing you need to be worrying about right now...is your financial situation. Let people who care about you and your family, help you. You have to concentrate on Scooby, vet's bills, endless distress for all of you and actually survive this ordeal.
I have no problem what-so-ever giving you some cash. You have a million other things to worry about and I can't do anything to help you with those things

If you're not happy keeping any surplus - why not a sensible comprise (IMHO) - When the donation thread is posted make it for the full cost of Scooby's treatment / expected costs. That includes the savings you've raided to pay for it so far.
That way it restores your savings to where they were and covers the treatment.
For any surplus then I'd propose any dogs charity - Dogs trust is a national one

Right
Sorry about the delay, a million and one things tonight, and still not finished![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I took Scooby to the Vets, and test results have come back positive for Aspergillosis, which in some respects is a good sign as at least we know what we are dealing with and treatment can start
We spoke about the various methods of treatment, and she has started him off on some anti fungal tablets (Ketoconazole) and what she has told me is this
They would possibly like to refer him to either Liverpool University, or Manchester (I think she said Pet Academy) or there is a possibility that they can treat him
However they havent treated a dog for this in at least the 8 years she has been practising there, so said it may be a little trial and error, and would probably cost around 200 per go, and maybe need 3 or 4 procedures to ensure he is completly clean, and will also keep him on the current Anti Fungal Tablets
She doesn't know the exact cost through Referral but talking with a colleague some while ago, it was circa £400 per go, again normally needing between 3 and 4 procedures
Also there are two different procedures, one is hospitalisation for 10 days and is a surgical procedure involving drilling Scooby's head and inserting 2 tubes into his nasal area, and some form of tubes in the frontal nasal area too, and flushing twice daily with an anti fungal emulsion
The 2nd newer procedure (this is the one they could possibly do) is a non surgical procedure, but still requires GA for about an hour where catheter style tubes are insteted into the nasal areas and the anti fungal solotion put in for around an hour, and the head moved around during this time to ensure it reaches all the nasal areas
I think this is the preferred method of treatment as it offers a higher success rate, but it is also one my Vet hasnt done before, but could possibly do
I gave her the link to the Aspergillosis website as it has information for vets, on the different procedures and success rates
She is going to look at this, and speak to both Universities tomorrow to get further advice and actual costs, so it does still make it difficult to set a target as such
She said they still cant stop the bleeding and for him to stay on the Anti Biotics and the Sedatives (both of which will run out tomorrow, so I need to get some more) and I have a weeks supply of current Anti Fungal tablets
She said also due to the extenuating circumstances that in an extreme emergency they will come and collect Scooby from home if he suffers a major bleeding session again and I cannot get home from work
She cannot stop the bleeding, as no one can, but at least the underlying cause can now and is being treated, we just need him to stop bleeding, he has had odd spots today but no big bleed and is still pretty quiet and slumping around the house
And that it is advised to keep him on the sedatives to keep him calm, and to keep his blood pressure low too
Sorry about the delay, a million and one things tonight, and still not finished

Target then is whatever you've spent so far plus £800 (you want the higher success rate IMHO) plus contingency for other treatments ?
Don't stretch yourself too far while you're waiting for a totally accurate figure - vets normally only provide that after the fact.

Its the preferred procedure (the non surgical one) that has the higher success rate, sorry its me trying to rush typing a post whilst me dinner was being eyed up by Scooby ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
It is down to whoever does the procedure, my Vet said they could do it to keep costs down, but havent done it before and it would be a bit of a test so to speak
Referral is exactly the same procedure just the University doing it, rather than my own Vet
I get the feeling that the vet I spoke with this evening would be happier with a referral but she is one of the Vet practitioners, and not the primary Vet Surgeon, thats the owner and his wife, and combined have 44 years Vetinary Surgeon experience, the girl tonight has 8 years exeprience, which I am not knocking by any way shape or form, but she does need to consult with them and the Universities
Oh dear, Scooby has started a little snorting now
it still looks ok for the moment albeit still swollen
Hmm, now he has slumped himself back on the floor and nodding off again

Edited my post to update my figures based on Sonics post - about time a new thread was started I think...

Aww Jamie
She looked well in the recent pics you posted
She's lovely ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Chop, a mixture of feelings really, I feel better him being home, but then panic in case his trickling nose becomes more serious over night as it has been like this all day, but I have been checking on him, I am hoping it will stop, but worried in case he has another episode like yesterday
We can't watch him all night
I hate it when he's in the vets in case we get a call we don't want, yet he's there for treatment should it be needed
I am not feeling as anxious as I did yesterday, so in some respects, yes, we do feel more positive
It just always seems that when he's fine and seeming more himself he suddenly takes a turn for the worse out of the blue
Yesterday was extremely upsetting as you can imagine ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
I do want him to make it and for us to get him to Scooby Live, although what he will make of it God only knows LOL
It's a positive thought to look forward to though

I'm so glad that they have a positive result - so at least they can get a start on the treatment, and hopefully this will start to take effect and get him back to his old self again.
Also am glad he is back home - again!
Love n hugs, and slobbers ( but the slobbers are NOT from me may I point out!!)

One thing I havent mentioned previously, and only really became concious of it yesterday when Scooby was snorting, his stomach muscles were contracting quite a bit and I noticed that he is looking a bit thinner
The Vet weighed him this evening and since Monday he has lost 5kg, he was 30kg when they weighed him, and was 25kg this evening
He has been eating albeit a little slowly but today he hasn't finished a full bowl of food yet, and is down on his water intake too, but does keep going back for a mouthful of food and a few slurps of water
