I've been following this thread for the last couple of days, and after reading that he was looking better, I was so pleased!!
Hope he pulls through this latest hiccup both....

I am hopping it is just a hiccup and nothing more serious but it's hard not to worry after the extent of things we saw at the beginning of the week. We're worried sick about the poor little fella 
We will be dreading the phone ringing all night and tomorrow now
I know to some people this may seem to have been blown way out of proportion, him being only a dog etc and I can see that point, but I am glad nobody had posted words to that effect on here, so for anyone who has read any of this and thought it, but refrained from posting, I would just like to say thank you.
The dog lovers / owners are better able to understand our predicament and can appreciate how much a dog affects your life positively. We're so worried, stessed and upset about this whole ordeal it's unreal, I know he's a noisy, smelly messy bugger, which can be irritating, but he really is a lovely dog, so soft in temprament, always wagging his tail and can be comical at times, I find dogs such loving animals and Scooby is no exception to this. I feel bad I can do nothing more for him than leave him to the vet
I bet he's so very confused being left there on Monday not feeling well, us seeing him later, then leaving him there, him being transferred to the ospital then back to the vets, coming home, being loved and fussed, then to be taken back there tonight, then back to the hospital, not the best for an animal who's probably already distressed enough with feeling ill etc

Some people don't realise that they are actually a big part of your family not just a dog, they've got their own personality. He is in the best place and being looked after by the best people who can sort him out.

Just got back from the Vets
Like Donna said really
I got there and they told me hadn't bled for the hour he had been there, then he sneezed out a couple of large thick clots, and then the blood started pouring out again, the vet cleaned him up a bit, but he was licking most of it as it was coming out of his nose, so there is a possible chance of him vomiting all the blood back up again
We thought it had started to ease up, whilst the Vet went to get him a sedative, the bleeding started again
She gave him the sedative, and has held off the Aspergillosis tablets for now, as they are so slow in working and they will have the results back on monday, and we are getting really concious of the spiralling costs (as the bill is now getting close to £700, and still not any further on now
I took him to the Emergency Vets, and I almost had to wake him up to get him out of the car, and there was still some bleeding but mixed with a bit of clear runny nose stuff
He could barely walk around in the vets, and his feet kept slipping, and his eyes looked like droopy the dog
But they have taken him in now, and will phone me if anything happens that is deemed serious or needs futher treatment other than the standad observation
I am concerned that his pbc dropped to 22, and in less than 5 days he is now losing even more blood, although the Vet did say he still had a reasonable colour to him, so he 'should' be ok if it only bleeds in small amounts
Its going to be another of those nights like monday night now

Oh what a poo week for you and scooby, Hope he's ok and it's just a sneezing fit or something silly like that.
It's times like these you wish that dogs could talk and tell you how they are feeling or where it hurts so you have some idea of what you might be able to do to help them.
Yes they are just "animals", but they are part of our lives, a furry family member. Lily is very much part of our lives. It's odd when she's not around, and she might be annoying from time to time but we'd be lost without her. She has more friends in the building than we do! They know Lily's name but not ours!

Thanks Markus, and thanks everyone else for all the comments and support, it really is appreciated
It is so frustrating not knowing, and worrying if he will have another attack like monday
Looks like a few things are going to have to be sold to raise funds for the bills, either that or try and get some weekend backhander (outside my own work) work to help pay the bills

The Vets have just phoned me, (basically complete sh*t Donna & me up, as they said they would only phone if urgent)
They wanted to let me know that Scooby has been ok, but had a few slight bleeds, and is still a little fresh red in his nostril but only a small amount
She has also spoke to my normal Vet, and she wants to keep him on Vitamin K for the time being, and that she will phone me in the morning at 7.30 to let me know how he has been through the night, and whether I can come and collect him, or whether he will be staying at the Emergency Vets over the weekend
If he suffers any more bleeding then she said he will definately stay over the weekend at the emergency vets, as they dont really want him moving backwards and forwards (its a 20 mile round trip to the emergency vets)
If he doesnt have any more bleeds through the night, he can come home tomorrow morning, but I will have to take him back for another Vitamin K injection on Sunday
She did tell me that he has been lively this evening (despite being sedated) and said he is a realy pleasure to have around as he is so lovely, he has also wolfed down a huge bowl of food and drank quite a bit of water

I have two labradors and know how much a part of the family they can be. Im sure this must be heart breaking to go thru. Hope Scooby pulls thru to a 100% recovery!

He *was* on the mend until 4.30pm tonight I have a conservatory and car boot full of blood again, conservatory has been cleaned again though for now
Today has been quite a major setback even the Vets have been surprised that its all started again
It is a good sign in some respects that he has only had a little bleed tonight, but he has been bleeding from about 4.30 to 5.30, then 6.30 till about 10pm
He still has fresh blood in his nose, its just not leaking out all over the place at the moment, and its a good chance that the sedative has helped a little with that, as it lowers the blood pressure, one of the problems is, is that it irritates him and starts to make him sneeze, which stops the healing process
He still has a very low blood count, and cannot afford to be losing any more blood as it will potentialy once again become life threatening
If he bleeds anymore between now and 7.30 in the morning, he will be staying in the Emergency Vets until Monday evening at the earliest, even if he comes home, I still have to take him back on Sunday for more Vitamin K as it is a 5 day course
They have injected him with anti-biotics now, but I will have to take the remainder of his tablets back in with me so he can continue those
The Vets, for want of a better word are slightly baffled and sadly cannot do anything to stop the bleeding apart from wipe his nose with a tissue, the rupture is too far down his nasal cavity to do anything about it, unless they take his nose off (literally) (which was a suggestion by the vet, but he didnt seem certain that it would really achieve much, or rather that it would probably cause more problems long term
He has been 3" down the nose, but he also said it could be anywhere in the nasal cavity which is incredibly difficult to find, and they have flushed his nose a few times with various drugs/treatments etc
His clotting is normal, so they cant really give him anything to help clot any quicker, as this again may cause other problems
They did talk about referral again, but this is 1500 just for the endoscope and investigation from the Univeristy in Liverpool, he could still get nose bleeds every few days and have to go to the emergency vets at roughly 100 quid a time (with treatment also)
He could still have aspergillosis we still dont know as the results take 6 days, and he had the tests done on Monday lunchtime, all the other tests have been back and he definately has the staphlococcus intermedius, but *could* have aspergillosis too

Just got back from the Vets, and I have Scooby with me
they said he hasn't bled through the night, but they had give him some injections, I have been given some more tablets, acp tablets which after a quick google, look like premedication tablets but essentialy are a sedative
I have to give him one twice daily, starting this evening but if he starts bleeding to give him another half a tablet, I only have 5 tablets in total, but I have to take him back to the Emergency Vets tomorrow morning for another Vitamin K injection, and also if he starts bleeding lots then to take him back to the emergency vets
Glad to have him back once again just hope he stays home now

I'm really sorry to hear about Scooby. I've got a dog, called Missi, and she's just like another child. We had a similar situation with her when she was a puppy and the vet bills were huge. But it was worth it as she got better. She had parvo-virus due to her vaccinations not working. It was touch and go for a long time, so I know what you're going through. It's awful just waiting and not knowing. But dog's are really resilient, and if you continue to act normally around Scooby then he will feel less anxious as well.
Ask your vet about a repayment scheme. Explain that you can't pay it all back at once and ask if they would let you pay it back weekly. Or else say that you can pay XXX amount now but will have to pay the rest off weekly. Every vet I know is more than happy to do this, as they see situations like that everyday, where owners have to get their pets better, but can't afford it. That's what our vets did and it worked out great.
Just thought I'd let you know that in case you weren't aware of that possibility. Sending big hugs to you and Scooby. Hope all goes well for you.

It sends a chill down my spine when I see this thread at the top (ish) of the page. You just don't know what you're going to read next....and DK1 and Sonic must be pushed to the limits here

We have spoken to the vet, he said we can come to some arrangement but nothing has been discussed / decided as yet. We have already paid off as much as we have been able to up to now, which is pretty much most of it so far, but obviously last night will have bumped things up a bit and he's due another injection tomorrow then whatever Monday brings....

Sounds like scooby is well on the way to a recovery Sorry to hear of all the hassle, me and jen have 4 cats but have lost 4 due to illness as we take in rescue cats and you don't know of any of there history. So we both know how hard it can be as we have spent a fortune on them but it's worth every penny as they are our family.
Look into getting scooby insured for this type of thing again, the likes of Petplan or More Than insurance do this sort of thing and you pay the 1st 50 or 75 quid and they pay the rest, it's about £6 or 7 a month but so worth it as my last bill in April for Oz was £987.56p! But insurance covered Hope that info will help you out in future, big hugs for scooby
