I really think posts 174 through to 180 are quite offensive (except markus) and I would like to suggest these are removed immediately as it really isn't nice to read on such a heart warming thread.

its always the case recently, that a thread of this nature where someone in genuine trouble, is eventually ridiculed in such a way to ban the user who commented in a way that they did.
back on topic, keep us updated steve.
p.s. i would try take a pic of my russian dwarf hamster, but hes a fast little bugger lol.

I dont think the posts should be removed, far worse has been posted on another forum by that user, but like Webby has said, let it lie now
Yes Consultants was yesterday, was a manic day yesterday all round so not really had a proper chance or the time to post on the thread
C-o-B video is much easier of hamsters lol, we have one that is on her last legs (she has had a large tumour in her ear since she was about 4 weeks old, and she is now 2 1/2 years old), but she wont keep still either
Anyway on with Scooby
Again he wouldnt bleddy rest in the waiting room, and tried to have a play with just about everyone and everything in there, including a very large St Bernard
The Consultant showed me the results, and basically he has Chronic Rhinitis that is plasmacytic (im sure thats what it said in the notes) and they carried out a lot of tests on the biopsies to try and determine the cause, and ruled out quite a few things, but could not put it down to anything, so therefore sadly the cause is unknown
They have ruled out Aspergillosis definately, and that no other fungal infection was present, they knew about the Staphlococcuss intermedis and this in their opinion is a secondary infection and bacterial chronic rhinitis in dogs is incredibly rare
He said there has been some 'remodelling' of the turbinates (tiny bones) in Scooby's nasal area, and increased blood vessels and epistaxis (heamorraging, both chronic & acute, primarily unilateral but more recent bilateral) He did tell me that the bleeding was quite profuse when he performed the rhinoscopy but that was his last bleed
He also said that what has happened with Scooby is that whatever has caused this (and he said it could literally have been anything, from Pollen to dust to just about anything that has been in the air, or that he has been in contact with) has caused the inflammation (yes David he did tell me that Rhinitis *is* an inflammation ) and has caused extra blood vessels to grow and enlarge to the point of essentially bursting open and causing the massive heamorraging the Scooby has been through
He has said that there is a chance that it may happen again, but he cannot say with any certaintity either way, but at least if it does happen again they know immediately where to look and what to look for
And also that if for example it happens again periodically then it can narrow the cause down quite a bit (like Hayfever for example)
So all that said, he is quite pleased at the results that it isnt as sinister as Aspergillosis as it is still quite a traumatic experience for a Dog to go through, and he has decided to try Scooby on some Steroids that he believes will reduce the inflammation and stop the running nose, sneezing & snorting and will also start to heal the damage that has been done to Scooby's nose
And he wants to see him back in a Months time, and also that if there is any change or re-occurrence to bring him back to them
The Steroids are Prednisolone 5mg, to be taken 3 times a day, doing a bit of quick research there are signs to watch out for whilst on these steroids and prolonged use will require weaning off them as it can cause adverse effects to stop them suddenly
I have to watch his lethargy, and his feeding & drinking as the Steroids will make him more hungry (I have personally been on this type of steroids in the past during chemo treatment (long time ago now), and I was on 6 full meals a day !!!) they can also cause behavioural changes too, so need to keep an eye on that also
So hopefully the steroids will work and Scooby will get back to full health again soon

Thanks for that. I also hope that the scan went well with your other "baby"
Sounds a bit more positive though - especially the fact that Aspergillosis has been ruled out. atb, d

Yes the other scans were fine, we got loads of them too LOL, midwife just sort of handed us them and said hide them and just pay for one
Everything normal there, I even asked the midwife does it have big ears like a chimp I think Donna wanted to slap me at that point

I'm so glad that nothing sinister was found. Hopefully Scoobs will be back to full health shortly, and like you say, should he ever bleed again, at least you know what the cause is now. Am sure he'll resume his 'nutter' status very soon

I'm a dog lover myself but it all seems very bizarre.
actually setting up a fund and asking people to donate???????
people actually sending money to pay for someone elses dog?????
why not sell your car to pay like other people would...youve spent a lot on the mods
i would never in a million years have the front to ask people to donate to my dog vet billls and so publicly..i would find it highly embarassing
cant you really see how utterly bizarre this is?
i just have to get this off my chest because it seems all very weird....like a religious cult sect that asks for donations
99.9999999999% of pet owners would never ever ask others to pay for their own animals misfortunes
setting up a trust fund to pay for your own dog????????
i still really cant believe it.....
please try to maintain some dignity and self respect in the future.....youve completely lost it on this one
BTW the dogs misfortunes are a completely separate issue and i do sympathise with the dog but not this trust fund nonsense

Prince Popeye if you've got nothing useful to add please go elsewhere. For the record neither Sonic or DK1 ever asked for any money, it was generously offered by all the good people on here who genuinely wanted to help.

Personally I'd put extra overtime in to pay for my dogs vets bills and not stoop to go begging for it on an internet forum. Or perhaps you could sell your car instead. Gotta be worth at least 8-10k with those mods?

Prince Popeye, before you start spouting your mouth off Please check the facts, the good people of Scoobynet offered to help to save Scooby, have you never made a mistake, no but your father did and look at what Scoobynet as to put up with now, keep your comments to yourself, you and your comments are not welcome on this forum, So please go away for your information Steve and Donna did not want us to help but we insisted I hope you never need help because with your attitude I for one would never offer to help.

For your information, Sonic had to be heavily persuaded to accept any monies in the first place.
#204
sonic really has no shame in accepting money for his/her own dog
'target reached and dont send any more money FOR NOW??????'
jesus have some dignity please...sonic is lapping it up
reminds me of the big princess diana hype
sympathies to the dog not the owner who is effectively taking the p1ss

We have'nt just helped with scooby fees, but we have also contributed to his appearence fee at scoobylive 2008
Hope scoobys still doing ok and the little one on the way
If that prat looked at the very first post that you listed, somethink like 'help dog nose bleeding all the time'. Where the hell was the pleding for money in that! What a complete DUMBASS! I for one had no problems in donating money and if there is a need for more, I for one would be happy to do it again,
All the best Steven

anyone with any dignity about them would not accept other peoples help for their own animal
they didnt ask for help fair enough but to accept help and then publicise it is strange
sell the car or take out a bank loan like others
but to make a post with 'dont send any more money FOR NOW' is just shameless
highly embarassing for the individuals concerned
the individuals concerned hide behind their dogs misfortunes im afraid
PAY for your own dog not accept the charity of others in such a public and humiliating way

Thanks everyone again
Well everything had seem to be going ok, still weeping nose, but generally ok, and then tonight about an hour ago he started spotting blood again from his nose, so i am not sure if the polyp things have started to 'grow' again, so will have to keep our eye on that, and mention it to the Vets in the morning
Not exactly sure how long the steroids should take to start making some kind of impact or have any kind of effect on him, when I had them, I only had them for I think 5 days at a time, and they started to take effect almost straight away
He still hasnt shown any great hunger or thirst, although his water intake has gone up slightly, but I have also noticed he has started pis$ing like a bitch now again (and no longer cooking his leg)
the inflammation around his nasal area has never really subsided either, but has gone more pinky inside again
Hopefully he will be ok in the morning
