Face it, its an agressive bread.
Warburtons is know to be quite aggressive I hear.

They are the stories that get sensationalised though by our great media. A Poodle story would almost be laughable and not newsworthy.

Indeed the Rottweiler has serious potential to cause damage but every breed of dog has the potential to cause harm of some sort.

Owners are the problem.

thats like saying an eagle is dangerous to a child but so is a pigeon if it had a heart attack and fell on their head from 500ft up......so all birds are dangerous!

there are plenty of dog types that do not have a natural instinct to bite, even when provoked, any more than a scared rabbit could, but wouldn't, bite you.

The problem is that pond life are attracted to certain breeds such as Rottweilers as they perceive them to be 'hard' dogs and handle the dog accordingly. If you or I owned a Rottweiler, it would probably turn into a big softy more likely to lick someone to death but your average chav wants the kudos of having a tough dog which is why I believe that all dog owners should be licenced.
agree with you ! - tricky to implement tho

dpb puts it differently to me, I'd just say you are talking bollocks. So you'd be OK if I popped around to your place and show you how your dogs will use their mouths if pissed off?

dont play down the nature of the breed, a poodle story would not be laughable if they repeatedly attacked people for no reason... it would be the poodle with the reputation not the Rottweilers.

Poodles dont generate headlines like

Sorry but ESPECIALLY with a breed like the Rottie it is more important than ever that they have good, decent owners. Chav scum owning these dogs, not training them properly from young or at all and keeping them in unsuitaable conditions are to blame more than anything and having had rotties especially and other breeds for almost 30 years now I have some clue .

All 3 of our rotties have had very different personalities, but have all been amazing dogs, so much personality and character, amazing protection abilities that I have actually needed once or twice in my life despite resembling a fridge, yet have never bitten a soul and have been loved by all of our friends. All 3 of them (Duke, Max and Titan) have been/are in the 10-12 stone category and could have caused absolute carnage, if owned by scumbags. If they are well trained and well loved I class them amongst the very best dogs to own without a shadow of a doubt. Coming from a West Indian family, my mum throws countless parties every year for example, with tons of people, tons of noise, people sticking their faces in front of the dogs and they all just took it in their stride and still do, mingling happily with crowds of people.

Seeing all this hype when it happens to be a rottie instead of another breed makes my blood boil. The simple fact of the matter is that the large percentage of the population should lot be allowed to take care or sea monkeys, let alone dogs.

You're talking to somebody who's trainer has 4 Rottweilers at various levels of Schutzhund training. All hope to be level 3 within 18 months. I myself own a level 3 GSD and a 12 month puppy who already is very obedient and will be started seriously on his Protection training as soon as he's old enough to mentally cope with it.

I don't play down the nature of the breed, I know the nature of the breed. I also know of various dog bites that don't reach the press.

Certain breeds will always be featured because the reputation gained from incidents, in the hands of the wrong sort, self perpetuates and more of the wrong sort buy that breed purely because of its reputation and so on. Lets face it, a poodle doesn't look hard so unless you offer the wrong sort £1000/week to own one, a bad reputation just isn't ever going to be gained.

The very same people have no morals or indeed any concern for others either so therefore often take them out to places that good dog owners wouldn't.

I maintain it's always the owners but one day, everyone may have to abide by the same laws, except the wrong sort won't, and around we go again......
