You'll still have hassles with some dealerships, they dont have trackers, you need to install cat1's more to insure, etc etc etc., very few dealers will take trade ins on JDMs.
Sorry, maybe you guys know better but I have owned about 10 imports over the last 5 years and thats me experiance !! I just sold an imported evo 5 and an imported sti 6 about 3 weeks back.

If buying a JDM that's already in the country and been used/registered then it will have CAT1 alarm already fitted. As for a tracker, I wouldn't bother if you can find an insurance company who doesn't require a tracker (I think A-Plan might be one?) as personally if my car got nicked I wouldn't really want it back anyway as no telling what state it would be in when/if got it back.
I had a 1999 STI Type R a bit over 3 years ago, I had it for 2.5 years and sold it for 1k less than what I paid for it so I would say they hold the money more than UK models. May take a little longer to sell as not everyone wants a JDM car but if you’re prepared to wait a while a buyer will come along sooner or later.
Once I have sold my Civic Type R I will be looking at a blob eye JDM STI ;D When getting insurance quotes there was hardly any difference in price between a UK STI & JDM STI.
