Does anyone know of any 3" sports cats? ![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
I'd be interested to know the performance difference between a 3" sports cat system and a 2.5" one, and also the difference between a 3" system with and without a sports cat.

apparently the 3" alllows the gasses to exit quicker hence quicker spool up, or so ive been told. as for the cat bit i have no idea.
im thinking hard at the mo about getting a 3" system from the cat back as my ppp one is very restrictive but i understand the ppp sports cat is very good. so i will leave it on.

True 3" Decat, wrapped is circa £350. Expect that to nearly double for sportscat option.
Do you want the hastle at MOT time and being aware of random road side tests? If yes, then the decat is for you.
Don't really know the difference between the two power wise, but any restriction must be restrictive in power, so just a pipe would give more power. Some say +2bhp, some say a lot more. I say, every little counts.

thanks gaz you seem very knowledgable. i just want to make sure i know whats going on with my car when it goes in to have all this done and get the right bits for the right money if that makes sense.
if i was loaded then i would just take it to a mapper and say i want 400bhp and just do whatever you want to get there but im not....so i cant.

Then plan what to get.
I planned on stopping at Stage1 (circa 330). Because of that parts i'd recently bought needed replacing, costing me a lot of money. So i'm just trying to save you the same fate.

If it was only around 2bhp then I'd go for a 3" sports cat, but I was hoping that someone could give some definite dyno figures.

VF35??? you have a bugeye then do you?
a VF34 is fitted to blobeye cars (MY03 onwards) its a ball bearing type.
VF35 has a little less power potential than VF34 but spools up a little earlier.
I've not seen a VF35 make 350bhp.
Rob
edited to add the reason a the VF35 spools faster is due to its smaller exhaust housing (p15) the VF34 has a (p20) much bigger.

yea right amazing isnt it. spoke to a few mappers and people and this is what ive been told by PROFESSIONALS leave on the sports cat come of that with a 2.5 or 3" either makes no difference (as a 2.5" can handle upto 400bhp) with a new center section to remove silencer and different bb as the ppp one is restrictive. so thats what im going to do. END OF.!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

got the HKS Hi Power from the cat pipe back, centre pipe and back box. Fits perfect to the ppp decat pipe using the 'donut' ring gasket.
