They built some near us; 5 bedrooms, three stories and lived in by the same family, to cap it off they are all lived in by immigrants. Even came with a garden shed, not that any of them do any gardening anyway. Nice to see my tax money is going to where its needed, eh?

Anyhoo. Back to the point, I have no qulams about informing the authorities about a "friend" who is abusing the system. Whilst I'm one for playing the system, that comes to legally minimising my taxation; which is already excessive. When it comes to benefits, I have zero tolerance to that (as thats the reason why my tax is so high to start with). Friend or not, just if it was a friend I do have the ***** to tell them to their face to stop abusing the system, as they'll be investigated.

I do have a "friend" (I use that term loosely as I can only stand about so much time with him before feeling the need to throttle him...if you thought snetters were anally retentive, they don't hold a candle to this guy). He's not well.....complete mental headcase. Orginally it started out as a dodgy knee...then it was nerves, now its anxiety, drug side effects which have noe worsened his condition and made him agoraphobic.

To cut a story shot, he has money, and spends it like it too (laptops, constant ebaying, getting a new car soon too). Not bad for a person who has only managed 6 months work throughout his whole life (honest). Something isn't adding up, so if I find out out its largly being funded by benefits, I'll be asking for his case to be reviewed. Afterall, they are for basic necessities for living not life's luxuries.

Its due to the inclusive housing schemes. The idea is that a percentage of new builds must be given over to housing associations etc. For this reason there are soap doding layabouts living in penthouse apartments in the london docklands area.

The idea is you take the scruffy people, always moaning about the state of their free house and the mess their estate is in and you put them with regular people in an effort to get them to look after places.

Unfortunately all the whinging is just for show, it doesn't work. They still make a mess, scream abuse etc they just get to drag the rest of the area down too. Grrrr!

(yes we have problems with one particular family of scruffs on our estate - if the council doesn't do it for them they don't want to know about it)

5t.

People don't need friends like that IMO, bet if they borrowed £20 off you and was told "will be paid straight back", you'd have to ask them for it back several weeks later, and even then might not get it paid back.

there was a slogan on the TV before, 'snitches get stitches'! It would be wrong to grass a mate up, but you should definatly say something to him and reconsider whether you want mates like that!

unfortunatly, people like that are just taking advantage of a pathetic system that gives money out far too easy, if you cant afford a house, get a foooooking job, if you then cant afford kids, get a better fooooking job! dont expect tax payers to pay for it!

I'm struggling. Council houses shouldn't be nice areas?

Only unemployed scroungers live in council houses?

Council houses should be more or less condemned buildings?

Council houses ar completely free?

Help me out here.

FFS! What Kiwi meant was that the council houses are now so good this guy isn't necessarily downgrading by moving into one. This was in response to someone questioning the veracity of letting out his swanky pad and moving into a 'crappy' council house.

The question was asked why he would want to move to a council owned place with this woman when he has his own place. My response was that many council houses are not in crime riddled estates and why wouldn't he want to move in to one.

I used to have a mate than started to claim benefits left right and center and then would sit there in the pub bragging about it

I would never of grassed him up like, but everyone quickly lost respect for him, and stopped inviting him out.
Used to really p1ss me off when he'd sit there laughing in our faces, knowing full well it was our hard earned dosh he was robbing

Yet said mate is at a complete liberty to screw the system and line his pockets. Something doesn't add up here, there should be no distinction when someone is taking the p!ss like this. Friend, foe or foreigner.

In that case I apologise for my comment unreservedly.

Didn't you think just asking him to get an extra round in once and a while might have redressed the balance?

Likewise do you feel angry about the much higher proportion of your money that's wasted on invading other people's countries rather than keeping your mate in beer tokens?

I wonder how many of those saying they'd never grass on a mate on this thread were clamouring for Maxine Carr's public stoning for living by there code

A Grass is a Grass

That may be so, but a Thief is a Thief however you dress it up, and in my book all thieves are scum
