Changes Discs And It Still Judders..??
#31
Dunno, maybe. I bought a bearing to fit on the passenger side, not fitted yet. The only reason I got it though was to rule it out as the passenger side bearing has a very very small amount of play (I'm pretty sure a small amount of play is quite normal, right??), whereas drivers side has none.
The play in the wheel bearing is not enough to see with the eye!

Had this problem on my '95 WRX wagon auto. After going down the routes of new discs, calipers (upgrade to 4-pots), pads, runout etc., it turned out to a slightly buckled wheel, even though there was no sign of kerbing.

Check the part thats inside the bearing as well (hub i believe its called, the thing with the wheel-studs)
Most likely that will be worn-out also, so that there is still play there, even with a new bearing fitted.
Checking for play is usually done up/down, as a side to side movement will also make you feel play in the steering.(which also isn't a good thing, but not what you are looking for))

Changed the bearing, swapped wheels around. Still no different.
I noticed that there is still lots of play, I'll describe.
With the front end in the air go to turn the front wheels by hand (mimmick turning the steering wheel). There is a huge amount of free play/slack. Both fronts wheels move together.
Is that right...?

I wouldn't think so, Replacement only.
Get it to a garage to check it out properly, Arnt you from the Stafford area...? If so get it to Chevron's and they'll confirm its fate.

Thanks for the post..
I'm gonna get on the phone first thing on Monday to the Subaru dealer again. Maybe they'll check it again but this time for free considering their advice has just cost me £550. Ah well, its only money, **** !!
This time I'll ask lots of questions whilst its on the ramps.
Cheers.

ok i have a similar problem with a different car
have some one walk along side the car then brake suddenly and see if you get any back and fore play in the wheel
also if you havent changed the tyres that wont help
if the wheel is moving back and fore then its to do with the wishbone bushes
good luck

Dan, I have the same problem, Subaru engineers tell me the juddering is because of the drilled and grooved discs, but thats B*llocks. My car is booked into the scoobyclinic, ill let you know what they say....
