ANYONE UPGRADED B2 TO A NEW POGODRIVE?
#31
All very interesting - having had my B2 for about 4.5 years, it has lasted well and while I will never change from a tomtom 720, I was interested in Pogo Alert, simply because it looks nicer. However, main things I noticed, in addition to that mentioned here, was:
I locate my B2 down near the gear stick (not an Impreza by the way) - so if the new one has a built in aerial, how easy will it be for it to find the signal through the front screen? I already had to move the aerial on the B2 to be outside of the heated front screen as it took ages, if at all, getting anything through the heating elements
It looks nicer but small, and thus is a colour screen that worth it.
£75 is a nice discount, but it's not cheap in the first place and bearing in mind it does little more, was not worth it...
They say they will move your existing subscription over - well, if I bought a new one, it would come with subscription for 6 months. If I have 5 months left, then I d o not get the additional month. If I have 1 month left, I still only get one month. So that makes a difference.
They rarely answer emails and frequently never do - phoning is the only option, and that is a pain - it bugs me people offer emails then ignore them
I bought a serial to USB connector for mine to allow the bracket (mine was pre-USB) to link to the USB port and it works a treat. Have to say the detector itself has never missed a speed camera in some 30,000+ miles so I have no issue with the technologically behind it. It's just the new version seems to offer not a lot more...

I'll be sticking with the B2 as well, the new 'gadget' may have SPECS Av. speed, be colour, easier to whatever..... but the B2 works well for me, an interesting thought was the thickness of these Pongo whatevers.... they're actually rather thick and nothing like the B2....
But I also think they should've kept Betamax and 45rpm records!

Yep, agree with all posts. Small increase in functionality, slightly nicer format, colour screen but not much else to prompt a change. I probably wouldn't have changed if my B2 wasn't beginning to fall apart (due to many years of my misuse I should say).
Mine's in a focus and is mounted down by the gearstick. On the screenmount it works fine, the heated screen element doesn't seem to affect it (nor was the B2 affected which, when I first got the focus surprised me). Down by the gearstick it only works intermittently so I've ordered the external aerial which I will mount under the dash cover as I did with the B2's aerial. It's not come yet so can't confirm that will solve the problem but can't see why it wouldn't. Small extra cost for the external aerial but worth it for the stealth mounting in my opinion.
