HERE IT IS! THE 2008 WRC.. so this is what the STI will look like!

I love the way there is always this bizarre opinion that ANY impreza is a good looking car.
GET REAL!
Alfa's are beatiful cars.. the Impreza looks like a boxy saloon with half of halfords stuck to it.
Face lift the current Impreza.. AGAIN!? For the fourth time? For a car design that seven years old? Who the hell did you work for? Rover?!

Impreza's have all ways been saloons and always should be.
Ok fair coment about face lifting it again but do something to it but don't make it a hatch.
The hatch is still not an impreza and never will be.
Some of us do like the way the Classic/Newage imprezas look.
Looks are important in a car how ever well it drives.
And for the record, i dont work for rover and used to work for an Alfa dealer and they are crap. I had one for 3 years and it spent more time in the dealership with warranty work being done than i did using it.

I didn't say they were reliable, I said they were beatiful.

Yet another mass produced high depreciating Impreza
Not the company they were I'm afraid. Had a great time while driving them just got fed up with the % loss with each one i had.
I'll stick to my 911 and try and pick up an old classic at some stage

I have to agree with bbigman, A hatch back Impreza isn't right ,in the same way an estate 911 wouldn't be either, I guarantee the STI won't look anything like that either.

Well you could always ask them to produce less numbers, only then an Impreza will cost substantially more.
This has to be the only forum where the members complain non-stop about their marque. Crap paint, crap depreciation, crap mpg, crap looks on some models, crap this, crap that.
Well move to another brand then!

As hinted by someone above, just what is the weight of the new model? The old one was a porker compared to a classic. Have they managed to shave some weight off now that the car is a little smaller?

Dam that is nasty! If that is what the rally car looks like, god help us the road car has no hope. But nearly everyone already knew that. The current Subaru rally car looks fantastic, better than anything else in the field.
In answer to MrRa. Most people buy the impreza for its looks. People do not buy cars that they perceive as ugly. To think otherwise is crazy. While people love the dynamics of the car, unless you use it for motorsport you would not spend money on something you did not like the look of.
The new Impreza is not what most current owners wanted, just look at the feedback. But the fact is Subaru has to make decisions that keep them in business.
Good Question

Just another hot hatch... Looks as bland as every other hot hatch out there... I agree with the other person that said the Impreza salloon should continue to be made but a hatch made aswell.
To just have the stickered up shopping trolley on the original post is a poor effort. IMO it looks crap, undestinctive and gay.

Why are people so afraid of change?
The the only reason the 911 still exists is due to the fear of change! Change is good, it helps move the game on!
Give it 6-12 months when everyone is used to seeing the new car on the road, people will start to like it and think the old cars look dated! Its the same with every car from every manufacturer (except Porsche of course!). People always hate the new cars then they grow on you!

The 911 exists because it is a cult icon and sells in good numbers. Or are you referring to slightly flawed layout of being rear engined rwd? Porsche have done a cracking job of engineering their way around the inherent problems of having all that weight over the rear axle.
But anyway, we're not here to debate 911's otherwise we'd be on a Porsche forum!

? Man Who said anything about being afraid of change! I always look forward to manufacturers new models, it usually means improvements, I can buy the latest thing and keep ahead of those pesky diesels.
But they don't always get it right! In the case of Subaru and the Impreza they had an even tougher job, as they are not selling the same concept even. To move from a saloon to a hatchback means you are aiming at a new market and different buyer. And then to try and produce a hatchback that sells in a competitive market sector is a trick in itself.
You can't argue commercially with Subaru for the decision. Just a shame they produced a hatchback that they called Impreza and it looks like a chipped icecube.

Ford went hatch with the Mk3 Escort.
AFAIK it sold ok
I don't mind the new shape at all. It'll certainly grow on you all when you see them in the flesh.

I'm sure people new to the brand will buy it. But I could not live with myself knowing every time I drove past a Saloon Impreza the owners would be smiling thinking look at that ****. I have enough of that when I wake up in the morning and my girlfriend looks at me. ?Take that how you will

If thats the rally car, god help the road car!!! The WRC cars normally look ten times better than the road version but that still looks cak. The road going sti will look even worse
