seeing that this thread is getting so much attention, might as well announce that my car is up for sale, looking for £4k for it, has done 82K miles with every MOT since imported in 2003, ive got reciepts for all the mods, most work was done by myself and zen performance....
To add it has 11months MOT and 6 months TAX, it is booked in to zen later this month for a full cambelt service, gearbox rebuild and speedo sender repair due to over-reading, so will be be available after that...

I'd have to agree....
I was stopped doing over 90 in a 70 and was given 3 points.....
I thought I got off lightly and learnt a very good lesson....
Always check before trying to teach the twit in the 205 GTI a lesson for cutting me up!!!!!
Errrrrrrr.... no actually....
To be honest, I now don't rise to the bait!!!!!!
p.s. is it an offence to drive fast, but under the speed limit?
i.e. can you get convicted for accelleration?

You don't always get done, although these days I am less aware of people being given warnings.
Many moons ago, when my friends and I were young and stupid most of us were let off. One for 80+ in 60, another for 100+ in 60, me for about 85 in 60. This all took place in different places within the county, almost certainly by different coppers. For me, all he did was flash his lights and wag his finger at me when I drove past trying to look all innocent Of course there is always the unlucky one, who got points for 32 in a 30 and normally drove like a saint. Poor chap.

Don't think so. Many years ago I came off a country road in my then Cav GSi (remember those ?) and into an deserted wee village - only person in sight was a traffic cop facing the other way with ray gun. Hence when I exited the junction and turned right I floored it, but only in first gear. Mr Plod was clearly disappointed to swing round only find his radar gun saying "30mph" !!

Its post's like this that give the Classics such a bad name these days. No wonder people think they're driven by chavs!
130mph in a 50mph burstin or not is idiotic. Why not pull over a **** in the hedge. Hell of a lot safer!

pmsfl an admission of guilt is all you need 10 of my mate's were driving over 100mph on bikes and they were stopped by the the boys in blue !! they had no camera's and they werent following them for long enough to get a speed !! they spoke to the 1st person and said "do you realise what speed you were doing" ?? to which he replied " about 110mph" they asked the same question to the other 9 riders who all replied "no comment" so guess who go done ???? the numptie who admitted an offence

Makes me sick.. I got done for doing 57 in a 50 on a dual carrige way (central reservation so no padestrians) on a road that used to be a national speed limit so I actually thought I was going slower than the limit at the time!
Needless to say when people like you get away with a BLANTENT disregard for road saftey it does **** me right off..

agreed got done for doing 39 in a 30 so getting off for doing 130 in a 50 is a **** take and the plods involved should get shot
i was under the impression that they could still prosecute and get a conviction with just the coppers statement and estimation of speed

So 2 cops let you off for doin 130mph in a 50 limit??? You sure it wasn't a couple of guys out on the ****, dressed up as cops?! Cuz that just ain't right surely. How did they catch you? Did you go past a cop car at 130mph.......not slow down at all.....wait for them to eventually catch you up (so they could see you were doin 130ish cuz of their speedo) and THEN pullover?! It just makes no sense
I reckon this thread is a complete lie, and you made it up to try and look clever, and it's backfired rather badly now that we all think ur a plonker lol

I just can't believe that you would post this up as an apparant way of getting attention for your car? Don't believe it for a second. I just have to say that you sir are a complete, total and utter tool for coming on to a public forum and spouting that out, still can't believe you posted what you did. At least go do that on a 3/4 lane motorway at 3 in the morning when noone else is around except maybe the police, not a sodding 50 zone............. I remember back in the day when the Impreza club was fairly exclusive .

I was so pleased to see this thread - apparently the police had got common sense and agreed with the drivers assessment of the road conditions that 130 mph was not dangerous at that particular time and place...
then I find it's a publicity stunt that probably didn't even happen...
Then all the idiots come posting about how the guy who posted is a plonker for doing that speed ... what if he had children Hope the police catch up with him and all that garbage
Do you all want to be limited exactly to the speed limit? Do none of you guys EVER do 31 or more in a 30, 41 in a 40, 71 on the motorway - if you do you are guilty of breaking the law! - Your assessment might be that 80 is 'safe' on the motorway... The law allows you a maximum of 70!
If you do 71 in 70 you have broken the law the same as if you were doing 130 in a 50 - dangerous driving is a different offence.
The garbage spouted on here by self rightoeus idiots astounds me at times
K18LLR - all the best with the sale mate - interesting idea for publicity - sorry you got drowned out by such negative dross
Cheers

it amazes me how many people get blasted on here for speeding in a subaru. Why would anyone want a car that does less than 20 to the gallon to putter around at the speed limit..... You may aswell buy a discovery and drop the kids off in that.
As long as you drive within your limits, and have a nice straight view in front of you i don't see the prob. leathering it on the motorway is no different, there is still a 70mph limit so to say its okay there but not in a 50 is just hypocritical.
There is a great stretch of road in Birmingham called the collector road, that is a 50 zone near the jaguar plant, jag reguarly used to rip there cars up that road for testing and probably still do. Its the best piece of road in birmingham to try your car out safely.

Self rightous is not really correct! it gives us all a bad name (even if its false this time) I agree its not right to be so focused on the speedo so not to go the slightest bit over the limit, but there are limits where it is just crazy, That may not be the point of the thread but its up now,

Hmm! I have noticed that most of the posters who are siding with the "tosser", have very few posts!! Do I see a similarity here?
